I’ve been very critical of Mason Mount.

And a lot of it isn’t really his fault!

I struggle to get my head around the fee, especially as INEOS probably wouldn’t have concluded a deal like this.

But as Ruben Amorim’s vision takes a greater shape in the form of improved performances and some good results, maybe there’s hope yet?!

We’ll be discussing all of these points AND MORE!

  1. The fee and the injury riddled time has been some big defactors. But you look at him when he played under Ten Hag, he was average at worst and look at him in Amorim's system, a system that is made for him, just like Tuchel's and how well he did under Tuchel at Chelsea. If he keeps fit, he's going to be amazing in Amorim's system

  2. At first , the fee had me triggered (same feeling I had with maguires fee)
Then the injuries made it worse.
And the no 7 that's pressure as well.
It felt like a loss all these years
But so far this past few games, hes played well. Very likeable and here's hoping this season he redeems himself.

With this formation, I think mount suits it and can play both cam and cm as needed.

  3. I completely agree with you, especially over the shirt number. Signing Mason Mount for 60m is not a bad signing on paper. But it's a stupid signing given the situation we were in. We needed a different profile of player, we didnt have the money to buy a player we didnt need and giving the number 7 was an awful decision. I dont agree be can replace Bruno and I dont fully understand what Mount brings to a team other than pressing intelligence but when he plays well we tend to play well so im happy to be wrong

  4. Hi Dev, long time 👊

I agree — Mount wasn’t a priority signing at the time, but having him as a squad option has turned out well. Amorim’s managed him perfectly, keeping him fit and using his strengths. What I really like about Mount is how he makes those around him play better — you can see the balance he brings when he’s on the pitch.

Also, what happened to the Lives? They were always top-tier discussions.

By the way, I run a podcast of my own — Ünited Kwa Ground. You actually inspired me to restart it after a break. Would love to connect sometime and maybe jump on one of your shows down the line. Keep doing what you do, bro 🙌
