Leicester will play Cheltenham in the 3rd round of the FA Cup on the 10th of January. This is the third time Leicester will play The Robins. They last met in the 08/09 season, coming up against each other in League One.

Leicester defeated Cheltenham 4-0 on both occasions and are also huge favourites this time. We have taken a look on players who have been in both camps.

Barry Hayles joined Cheltenham on loan from Leicester in 2008. He made 12 league appearances and scored 4 goals. Then one season later he joined on permanent deal. Staying at Cheltenham until 2010. In total he played 51 league games for Cheltenham, scoring 11 goals.

One player to count is defender Josh Debayo. He joined Cheltenham in 2018 from Leicester. Midfielder Callum Wright has spent time on loan at Cheltenham, during his days at Leicester.

Leicester trialist Michail Antonio has spent time on loan at Cheltenham. This was during the time he played for Reading. In total 9 league appearances for The Robins.

Johnny Hayes spent the 08-09 season at Cheltenham on loan from Leicester. A total of 9 league appearances during his short stay. Elvis Hammond is another player joining Cheltenham for Leicester back in 2009. He spent two years at Whaddon Road. 46 league games and 9 goals for the attacker.

Defender Darren Kenton also have a life in both camps. Kenton joined Cheltenham from Leeds in 2008. He played 13 league games for The Robins in a short spell, joining USA based Rochester Rhinos in 2010. Kenton played for Leicester from 2006 to 2008. A total of 33 league games and two goals.

Flank midfielder Ben Marshall is also one with a life in both camps. Marshall had a short loan spell with Cheltenham in in 2009, joining them on loan from Stoke.

Well travelled goalkeeper Carl Muggleton was another player playing for Leicester and Cheltenham. He joined them in 2001, being there to 2002. Only 7 league appearances. Muggleton was at Leicester for nine years (1985-1994), but spent a lot of time out on loan. A total of 46 league games for Leicester during those years.

During his early days at Bristol City, Leicester midfielder Bobby De Cordova-Reid had a brief stay at Whaddon Road. This was back in 2011, making only one league appearance. Defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner also featured for Cheltenham in one league game, being on loan from Leicester.

Australian midfielder James Wesolowski had a spell at Cheltenham. He played 4 league games for them on loan from Leicester back in 2008-09.

There are a few more Leicester relations. Martin Allen and Steve Cotterill both had brief spells at Leicester with manager experience from Cheltenham. Cotterill (61) is their current man in charge. Kevin Russell was caretaker boss here in 2023.
