    >Chelsea ace Wesley Fofana now has an incredible 50 points on his licence after he was caught speeding in his £300,000 Rolls Royce.

    >The £70million centre back, 24, was behind the wheel of his white Rolls Royce Cullinan when he was flashed at 1.30am doing 54mph in a 40mph zone in Twickenham, south west London, last February 27.

    >The French national – who is already banned from driving for two years – pleaded guilty to one count of speeding in a 40mph zone, his tenth driving conviction in less than a year.

    >The injury plagued defender did not appear at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court today, but was hit with a £1,062 fine and three penalty points.

    >**Just 12 penalty points are needed to get a driving ban in the United Kingdom but Fofana is now on 50.**

    >Kari Williamson, prosecuting, said: ‘The defendant was caught by means of an automatic camera at 1.30am in the morning doing 54mph in a 40mph zone on the A316 Chertsey Road.

    >**’He earns more than £200,000 a week.’**

  2. How we don’t have proportional fines I have no idea. I think a minimum fine should be in place and then there is another penalty tied to your income (above a threshold) so you actually feel the weight of your action. I think Finland did this and wealthy people were getting hit with €100k fines for traffic offences.

  3. He got £1000 fine while on 50 points…..

That’s the equivalent of someone earning a grand a week being fined £5

    There’s zero deterrent.

Remember if this was a regular person they would have been in prison 30 points ago

  5. Not from the UK but how does accumulating so many points not result in him getting much more serious consequences? Seems like he’s not learning from his mistakes.

Just take the license away and make him use a car service this guy is an idiot

  7. At this point it’s just a character flaw. Can’t really justify or excuse it. I say take his license, he can afford a driver

  8. How can you possible accrue that many? Surely once you’re banned, the punishment should be more severe than more points?

  9. Crazy but this speeding was not that bad this time. Maybe Wes should be in bed instead of driving around at 1:30 AM.

You see things like this and it all makes sense why some players and teams have prolonged success while others do not.

The authorised really ought to consider a custodial sentence at this point given that fines aren’t proportionate.

The club has to do something at this point. Seems like this is a disaster waiting to happen. Embarrassing behavior.

  12. damn i’ll admit im a pretty shit driver and somehow i still think im a better driver than this guy

  13. Honestly he should get jail time, you cannot keep driving like that and be allowed to get away with it. Maybe a week in prison will make him learn something – also get a RoadAngel you idiot so you know the speed limits and the camera locations.

  14. Mad thing is if he’d crashed and died we’d be having celebrating him. Looking at you, Scousers
