[Stephen McGowan] The inside story on Wilfried Nancy’s time at Celtic: Academy-level training sessions, no instructions, no opposition analysis, no in-game management.

This will potentially be looked back on as the month that killed Celtic’s dominance of Scottish football. The shitshow has been ongoing for a while, but it was the first time we hired a proper dud since Mowbray, and even then Mowbray proved before and after that he’s a good manager that just never worked out here. Nancy won’t do anything outside of the MLS.

Everyone that was even a small part of his hiring should be gone from the club.

  2. He actually believed he was a good football manager because Americans don’t really understand football.

  3. There was a lot of people raging at McCowan for what he said in interviews but you know what? Fucking good that he did

If things were genuinely that bad then he SHOULD be speaking, he was probably fuming.

Aye got the piss ripped out of him for no talking to his friends and family but fuck me I actually think he should have been more raging than how he came across.

Why does this surprise anyone at all?

From day 1 – anybody with any clue about football had him sussed out for a complete fraud. Pantomime season at Parkhead is over, now let’s get back to playing football, and let him go and teach the ladies’ field hockey team at the University of Bampot Northern Christian College, or whatever the fuck.

On the upside, he may have just earned enough in his foray across the water to buy that VW camper van he always wanted, and he can finally pay off the student loans he has had since he took those pottery courses at community college.

  5. In which case we should be congratulating the players for winning even a couple of games under his Total Unfootball month of misdirection..

  6. James Forrest: 34 International appearances, former player of the year, young player of the year, over 500 club appearances one of which was a victory over peak era Barça. Iniesta, Messi and all.

All to be told how to “open his body to receive a pass” by the guy who had left his former club in 7th place in the league and who had *almost* signed for Carlisle.

  7. There’s a bit of a civil war going on behind the scenes at Celtic and there have likely been people briefing the press against Nancy and Tisdale.

This is another hit piece, written with an agenda, intent on framing them

Still convinced this was all for a segment for a French Saturday night entertainment programme

  9. “MLS teams function on broadly the same level. Parity is encouraged. Half the league reach the play-offs for the MLS Cup and there is no relegation. Coaches can lose games and still secure the time to develop a system and a philosophy. When that doesn’t work, there’s always tomorrow.”
