Forest Green Rovers manager Robbie Savage has issued his reaction to signing young midfielder Chibuzo Nwoko on loan from Fulham until the end of the season.

Fulham struggled at the start of this season after a quiet summer transfer window, but they have returned to form in recent weeks under Marco Silva.

He guided the Cottagers to a 2-1 win over rivals Chelsea on Wednesday, as they picked up their fourth win in six league games through Harry Wilson‘s late winner.

Wilson’s future at Fulham has been uncertain over the last few months, but his impressive recent form means they will not be planning to let him leave in the January window.

The West London outfit may change up Silva’s squad for the second half of the campaign, and they have already looked to loan out Nwoko as he searches for more game time at senior level.

The 51-year-old has guided Forest Green to third place in the fifth tier as it stands this season, with promotion back to League Two firmly on their agenda.

Savage took to X to react to a new signing for his side on Thursday as Nwoko joined on loan from Fulham, saying: “Another brilliant signing, another Premier League club trusting us with (their) young players, chibby (Nwoko) will be brilliant for us,” with green heart and praying hands emojis.

The 19-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Cottagers’ first-team, but has made 16 appearances for their under-21 side this season.

Who else could leave Fulham this month?

Nwoko’s departure will not have a huge bearing on Fulham’s January transfer plans, but there are sure to be some first-team exits that do see the club aim to bring in replacements.

Football Insider recently revealed that Fulham are planning to sell Adama Traore this month, rather than letting him leave for free when his contract expires this summer.

Wolves are interested in re-signing Traore, as also revealed by Football Insider, and he looks very likely to leave, having made just one Premier League start so far this season.

Ipswich Town want to sign the Cottagers’ club captain Tom Cairney [Sky Sports], while L’Equipe have reported that Paris FC are interested in Issa’s Diop’s services, ahead of a possible approach this month.
