Jonathan Liew for The Guardian throwing in some completely unnecessary shade towards Aston Villa. Just ignore the fact they we have already beaten them this season. With Unai at the wheel, write us off at your peril! #UTV

  1. Bitter that we can build a solid team without having to spend billions only to fall short last minute *cough arsenal*

  2. It makes a change for us to even get mentioned in the guardian. Their weekly “ten things to look forward to” and the follow up after the weekend so rarely mentions us it’s bizarre. Made the semi final of the FA cup last season, playing Spurs this weekend, of course we’re not mentioned in their one today.

  3. Normally I don’t pay attention to such things but that’s just embarrassingly arrogant. Not surprising as Jonathan Liew has always come across as a grade A bellend.

  4. He’s literally an opinion writer who openly supports Arsenal (as his second team I guess?). It’s not an objective analysis.

An article by a journalist in a national newspaper using the term LOL says enough about the professionalism of it

Quietly going about our season, and when we are still there gameweek 30, maybe then they’ll believe.

  7. I didn’t realise mainstream media could use stuff like “lol”, what sets them apart from people online at that point?

Genuine disgrace really how much clubs outside the “Big 6” are sneered at and looked down upon by the London journos. We’ve consistently proven for a good few years now that we’re better than Tottenham and Man Utd but if either of those were in our current position they’d be treated with a lot more respect.

Clubs like Brighton and Bournemouth are treated with more respect than us despite not achieving the same feats as us because they’re essentially feeder clubs to the “Big 6”, know their place and won’t threaten to kick on and challenge the elite

  9. It’s not the first time they’ve been in this position.

What do they call it? Elephant up a tree?

At some point the branch always breaks and I’m here for it 💪

  10. i normally don’t pay attention to this crap anymore but this has annoyed me an impressive amount

  11. And this is why I love it when Arsenal blow their league hopes. Worst supporters going

  12. Most of the mainstream sports media around the prem think and act this way to a more or less explicit degree. Sky Sports fill their studios with Sky6 alumni and TNT put a self described ‘Arsenal man’ on commentary of our game against them. The Guardian has some good content but also this crap, pretentious side.

The media bods clutched their pearls over the Super League idea, yet dismiss the right of anyone outside of the traditional top 6 to compete in the current format. Any of the usual suspects being outside of the UCL spots represents football (or those clubs at least) being ‘broken’ to them – implicitly they want the Super League.

Rory Smith’s ill informed and disrespectful rant earlier in the year about us and our transfer business has put me off 5Live Football Daily since. Doubt he’s ever addressed our form since that rant…

Awful “journalism”. Welcome to his opinion but the use of “lol” in a guardian article. Unbelievable.

Honestly I don’t understand why anyone cares what the media think. Let them… and then let us prove them wrong. I’d rather be downplayed and over achieve, than hyped up and underachieve.

  16. That is why we all respect Jacob Tanswell, not a Villa fan, it is his job to cover Villa and he does it fairly. Jonathan Liew sounds like a tool! UTFV!

A Chelsea fan coming in peace and crying at the state of my own club. Villa are playing the best most attractive football I’ve watched in the last 18 months. The champions league games against psg were amazing and really announced that your team was back in the big time. The home game against Arsenal I celebrated buendia’s winner louder than I’ve celebrated anything Chelsea have done this season. I hope your club continues to improve

  18. Endless clickbait stories linking Morgan Rogers with Chelsea today. Salivating over a double “cold”celebration with – shit Morgan Rogers – Cole Palmer

  19. I fucking hope Arsenal crash and burn (again), team full of pricks with a manager who’s the biggest scab-covered cock of them all.
