Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has dropped a hint that he may rotate his squad for their FA Cup clash against Derby County this weekend.
United travel to the Rams on Sunday for the third round clash, which is the last of a tough run of fixtures for the Whites, whose priority is Premier League survival this season.
Leeds faced Newcastle last night in a 4-3 thriller at St James’ Park which followed games against Manchester United and Liverpool.
Farke admits that top-flight survival is Leeds’ focus but while he also fancies a cup run, he admits he may have to switch-up his starting XI due to the schedule they have faced.
“It’s been a tough run of fixtures,” he said.
“Four Premier League games in 10 days and then the FA Cup on Sunday. I am a big believer in cup competitions, especially the FA Cup.
“It’s the most traditional cup in Western Europe and something I want to win. Why not? We’ve shown in one game we always have a chance.
“We want to go into the next round, still having in mind that although we’re motivated, this season the big priority is to stay in the Premier League.
“We won’t risk any player in this game and we won’t do anything stupid.
“We’ll be there with a proper team and try everything, but without risking any players. It’s also important for some players to get minutes and rotate a bit more.”
One player who won’t be involved is former Derby County defender Jayden Bogle. He has been struggling with a calf issue.
Farke added: “I don’t think Jayden Bogle will be ready for this game, he was not in team training today.
“The latest he could be back in team training is Saturday but if there is any risk, I’d rather rule him out then say he’s available.
“Unless a miracle happens, he’ll be back with us on the other side of the FA Cup game.”
