Aston Villa could send Rory Wilson out on loan this winter, with clubs from Denmark’s Superliga firmly in the picture. The claim comes from Tipsbladet, which says several top-flight Danish sides are considering a move for the Scotland U21 striker.

According to the report, Aston Villa see a temporary exit as a realistic option for Wilson. He continues to train with the first team under Unai Emery, but competition in attack limits his chances of regular minutes. As a result, both club and player view a loan as a sensible step.

Tipsbladet adds that Denmark is not the only possible destination. Clubs in Norway are monitoring the situation closely. There is also interest from Belgium, Austria and the Netherlands. That range of options highlights the belief that still surrounds the 20-year-old striker.

Wilson joined Villa at just 16 after leaving Rangers, in a deal worth around €400,000. At the time, he became the club’s highest-paid academy player. Aston Villa moved quickly and beat competition from Benfica, Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt.

The forward enjoyed a prolific 2023-24 season at youth level. He scored 46 goals in 52 matches. An injury ruled him out for much of last year, but the club showed continued faith by extending his contract in the summer.

Wilson returned in September and made an immediate impact. In November, he scored a hat-trick against Skenderbeu in the UEFA Youth League.

For Aston Villa, the focus now is on finding the right loan environment. A move to the Superliga remains a strong possibility, although his next step is still unclear.
