Liverpool are having a hard time completing any first-team transfers this month, while some of their direct Premier League rivals are aiming to make big moves.

Antoine Semenyo is expected to join Manchester City after previously being mooted for an Anfield switch.

On top of landing the talented Bournemouth winger, there was a suggestion that Marc Guehi could move to the Etihad as well.

It comes after Liverpool tried to sign Guehi in the summer transfer window for £35m, but a move was quashed.

Recent reports have not ruled out another move for the Crystal Palace centre-back this month.

Arsenal want Marc Guehi as £40m fee is mooted

But it now looks like two of the top Premier League clubs are also in for his signature.

As per John Cross of The Mirror, Arsenal have joined the race for the England international.

Guehi can sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs now that he is in the final six months of his deal, but a fee of over £40m may be needed if an English club are to get a transfer done this month.

Cross wrote on X/Twitter: “Arsenal ready to enter race to sign Marc Guehi. Man City pushing hard to get deal done this month.

“European superpowers Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Liverpool also in mix. Could take £40m and huge contract for City to beat the summer rush.”

What insiders say about Marc Guehi’s future

While many clubs in England and Europe seem to be looking at the player, an insight into Guehi’s future preference has already been shared.

And it does not involve joining Arsenal, Manchester City, or even Liverpool this month.

Instead, it has been suggested that the defender could move as a free agent in the summer.

Speaking in late December, Fabrizio Romano said: “The feeling of those close to Marc Guehi is that the most likely outcome of the story is a move in the summer on a free transfer, staying at Crystal Palace until the end of the season, and then join his favourite club in the summer.

“There is Liverpool in the race. There is Bayern in the race. There are more English clubs, including Man City also calling.”
