Hull City manager Sergej Jakirović has admitted that links to the likes of West Ham United are “always flattering”.

Sportske Novosti have an interview with the Hull City boss today. The newspaper asked him about the recent reports linking him with a potential move to West Ham.

They currently have Nuno Espirito Santo in the dugout, but the pressure is rising on the Portuguese boss. He took charge at the end of September but has won just three games in 19 to date and lost ten.

The latest of those defeats was a 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest, which came after a 3-0 loss to former club Wolves. That was the latter’s first win all season.

The Hammers are currently ten games in the league without a win. They’re now 18th in the table, seven points from safety after 21 games of the season. They are only a point ahead of Burnley in 19th.

Sergej Jakirović flattered by West Ham links

In contract, Sergej Jakirović is enjoying himself with Hull City. He took charge in the summer and has so far won 12 of 26 games in the Championship, picking up 41 points. They sit seventh in the table, trailing third place by three points and second-placed Middlesbrough by five points.

That’s seen him named as a potential candidate at West Ham should Espirito Santo depart. Jakirović has seen those rumours and isn’t shooting them down.

“Obviously, I did a good job here when I am mentioned in the context of a big English club like West Ham,” he said.

“That interest and such stories are always flattering. But I am maximally concentrated on every next Hull City match. No one knows what will happen in the future.”
