This has been a very difficult season so far as a fan, I think to some degree ahead of GW1 we all would have had hesitations about how the team would progress this year, not only as we’d made some major additions and lost two key players with transfers and the heartbreaking loss of Diogo.
Dominic though has really been our light in darkness this season, a solid 8/10 every week, wherever he plays. He communicates like a real leader and I wouldn’t be suprised if he is a captain in the future of the club.
Whilst our team plays poorly, suffers from low morale and simply seems to lack any confidence, Dominic has really come to his own these past 12-18 months and I really think he has so much more room for growth.
I don’t like to say players are the ‘next’ anyone, but Szobo really reminds me of Gerrard – not exactly playing style but just his robustness, continued leadership & effectiveness across the pitch. I don’t think we come across many players like that often – Milner I know was recent but we are incredibly lucky to have someone like this. That said, I hope he gets more time in his favoured position in the middle.
