Brentford’s already impressive season hit new heights on Sunday afternoon, with Keith Andrews’ side rising to seventh in the Premier League table on the back of an impressive 4-2 victory over Everton at the Hill-Dickinson Stadium.

Having come into the campaign with a rookie manager and having lost a number of key players over the summer, many pundits had tipped the London club to be relegated. Such notions seem well off the mark at this point.

Brentford have now taken 30 points from their first 20 games, sitting just one point off fifth and a potential Champions League berth.

The scoring exploits of Igor Thiago have been key to their successes, with the exploits of a certain Irishman at the other end of the pitch equally important.

Andrews Makes Telling Caoimhín Kelleher Comments After Brentford Win

Eyebrows were raised when Caoimhín Kelleher joined Brentford from Liverpool last summer, with many expecting him to join a club a bit further up the Premier League table. However, his lack of experience as a no.1 may have been an issue for some potential suitors.

Such concerns now seem ludicrous.

Kelleher has been nothing short of sensational in his maiden season as a first choice goalkeeper, with his performance against Everton the latest in a long line of top class performances.

Speaking after the game, Keith Andrews was quick to praise the Ireland international for his impact at Brentford since joining the club.

His performance was top drawer. The way we defended in the main, against some really talented individuals at Everton at the top end of the pitch, the likes of Beto and Grealish, they are really talented players.

But Caoimhín produced some top quality moments, he just continues to grow and he epitomises the group that we are…

They have been coming. Away wins in the Premier League are hard earned and we certainly had to earn this one, we have been growing as the weeks went on and in the right way, performance levels merited more than we’ve got on the road.

We have a special group, the connection between the players, the fans, the staff, and the club is special. It was a nice away day.

Brentford will be hoping to maintain their recent momentum over the coming weeks, with league fixtures against Sunderland, Chelsea, and Nottingham Forest to come over the remainder of the month.

Caoimhín Kelleher’s form will no doubt be key to their prospects in those fixtures, as well as the remainder of the campaign.
