Guardiola gives a defensive injury update, confirming Rúben Dias is expected to be out for around five to six weeks, Joško Gvardiol remains sidelined, John Stones has not trained, and Manuel Akanji is not close to returning.

Pep says City will have to be “creative” with solutions, including using academy players, as the squad deals with a demanding schedule and limited rotation options.

He insists the spirit within the group has been “top” since day one, says he has “zero complaining” about his players, and explains how fatigue can affect decision making in the final third.

Guardiola also stresses the importance of character and togetherness during this period, adding that young players “never disappoint you” when given responsibility.
