That’s simply not true. He was injured (ACL) and the Inter management didn’t give a fuck. No one even visited him at the hospital. But Hoeneß and the President took care of him, visited him and so on. The marriage was already in shambles.

That’s where Bayern jumped in. They signed Matthäus even though they had to wait for him to recover from his severe injury.
