I know he's injury prone but he's been fit most of this season and he's a class striker.

  1. He’s been fit because he’s barely played.

I’m not against a back up to close out games and his experience would be good but I’m just not sure he’s the type of profile we need at this point.

Nah, it’s a zero risk back-up option so long as the contract is right. I got laughed at for something similar when suggesting Calvert-Lewin on a free would be worth a gamble.

  3. I can understand your thinking as a cheap backup to Ollie. But I don’t like these type of signings personally. I’d rather us just go without if we can’t get in a long term solution.

It’s a weird one for West Ham as he’s one of their top goal scorers!

I would have thought he would be a quick fix for a team like West Ham if they need goals!

  5. I dont like him on a personal level.

The kind of guy who would rather score in a loss than not score in a win.

Unai could probably get something out of him, but I always thought him to be more of an Ings than something Unai would like

Didn’t he reject us for Newcastle quite publicly?

I’m not one to hold grudges though

I’d be ambivalent about him coming. Doesn’t feel like the right fit but he does know where the net is.

Turned us down before, doesn’t he hate us too? Coventry players usually do 🤣

Didnt he turn us down in 2020 before we got Ollie in?

Wouldn’t be against it, just depends what he wants and how much he wants to play. He certainly wouldn’t get many starts.

Short memories, this injury prone womble turned us down for a “BIGGRR” club …Newcastle, we went on to purchase Watkins Instead.

I’m sorry, what? Nowhere near good enough for us.if we’re looking at a player who can’t even get into the West Ham starting 11, we must be desperate.

    Plus I can’t stand him.

  11. If we don’t have the finances to make a better signing (such as Vaz), and it was on a pay as you play deal, then it would be ok to get us through to the summer and let Ollie have some rest.

The biggest issue though is that Wilson is a poacher more than anything else now, and playing as a striker under Emery usually demands more than that. Would he hold up physically if there are more demands on him?

I like Callum Wilson but there is a sliding doors moment where we get Wilson instead of Watkins. Do we do as well if that happened. Probably not.

I’d take Wilson as a back-up option, might help us in Europe but will he take a back-up role at this point.

I can see him going Coventry or Preston.
