I believe it is a Dutch tradition. Isn’t there a notorious picture of Ruud Van Nistelrooy doing it, and the Dutch tradition is to do with the epiphany and the three wise men/kings

He does it every year. Can’t recall what the celebration or parade they do in that region but seems to be a Spanish thing.
I think the one when he first joined Villa was depicting Balthasar, but I don’t know the original details. I do recall him explaining it on his Insta at the time too.
