For everyone saying BMD should have been bigger. This is the state of the resale for tomorrow. The pink dots are available tickets, just the south.

  1. Cold and wet mid-week night in January isn’t the most accurate representation of average fullness.

6th for average % attendance (98.9%) and Forest and Brentford who have League One/Championship stadiums are 2 of those 5 above.

I think a more accurate measure is the average attendance across a whole season versus capacity. A mid week game in early January isn’t a fair measurement.

For example I’m a ST holder who has been to every game at home so far this season, but I’m struggling to find a babysitter so I may miss this one.

  3. It’s a fair point however I think there are a few contributing factors to this (besides the obvious midweek/freezing/3 home games in 6 days/just got battered for the 3rd time in 5 home games)

    1) Having to have a membership to access the resale, people thinking you need to have the £60 membership and being unwilling to pay that not knowing how easy it is to get tickets on the resale (usually).

    2) Having to pay full price for resale tickets for children/pensioners. There is no option for concessions when buying resale.

    3) Pricing – If people were able to drop the price (like you can on other resale platforms, and like used to happen with stubhub) I think people would be happier to get something for their seat than nothing. People used to complain about stubhub because of the odd liverpool/utd games where tickets would be sky high, but for 90% of games you could get tickets for face value or less.

I do agree that making the stadium 60k would have been a big risk, but when you take into account the circumstances for tommorow it isn’t as bad as it looks. If we were playing better, if the ground was easier/cheaper to get to, if the weather wasn’t awful, if it wasn’t our 2nd of 3 home games in a week it would be better.

At Goodison I would guess this match would probably have been around 36k, Wolves will probably be the lowest attended of the season and still be 47-48k.

The club have also made it incredibly unclear on how to give season tickets to friends/family or figuring out the memberships for tickets. I had a free ticket for the Arsenal game the other week and a friend who wanted to go but we just couldn’t work out how to get him the ticket for the game and adjust it from concession to adult. This stuff used to be simple.

It’s ok that people don’t want to go out in the freezing cold when they’re skint to watch us get beat by the actual worst team ever when they can watch it from home instead

  6. Honestly it’s mainly because it’s a pain in the arse that people only with paid memberships can get these. I know loads of blues who want to get the new ground but it’s almost impossible to get tickets besides sometimes cup games. I know many that have forked out loads on overpriced hospitality tickets because of this

Yes, im not a ‘paid’ member and I’d normally snap up these tickets, but im not driving across the Pennines with 2 kids in the snow/ice at night. I don’t think its a fair indication on overall demand, just weather related.

Yep spot on. Still yet to actually sell the place out and noticeable empty areas every game. An extra 10k would produce mocking equivalent to the Emptyhad shouts

  9. Every evening game I’ve been to I’ve struggled getting home due to merseyrail cancelling trains, even on Sunday the cx the trains due to a bit of weather, it’s like they don’t look at the forecast.
It’s too much of a risk to go to evening games as I’ll be stuck in Liverpool.

It’s a Wednesday night in the first week of January in the middle of 3 home games in just over a week. I’m not surprised there’s seats available. People just don’t have the money right now.

  11. Too many people by the way have season tickets who shouldn’t.

The couple to my left I met on the opening match v Brighton said they were Everton fans from Portsmouth. As in, they actually lived in Portsmouth.

Since then, he has appeared for 1 more match, and her never. They resell their season tickets every, single, match. It’s just stupid.
