another big oof if this materializes.

guy just finished a Seria A Brasileiro season with 21 goals & 8 assists in 33 appearances.

personally, I thought this kid showed a few flashes of something in 21/22 before he fucked his knee up with the NextGen. Not pretending I thought he was *amazing*, & I would have laughed if you told me back then that he would have RM rumors posted about him within 4 years. But I definitely thought he had potential to be an interesting part of our squad one day.

I really thought he deserved another (better) loan after that joke of a season with Frosinone (only 8 starts? foh) but apparently pawning him off for €7M so we could afford the Poop miner was more important.

Is it really that big a deal? probably not as far as using him as a player; if had only be on loan to Cruzeiro this entire time & returned to us now, he would not be immediately replicating the same production levels (and even if he did, that wouldn’t solve our midfield and fullback problems). Its not a case of “Kaio Jorge would win us the scudetto”. But it is a big deal financially.

He cost us €1.2M/year in salary & had signed a 5 year contract that carried through till the end of the 26/27 season (total contract cost of €7.2M). To sign him we spent €3M + €1.5M if we qualified for the UCL in his first season (we did). Between the fee paid to Santos & his salary, he had cost us roughly €8.1M when we sold him for €7M to Cruzeiro in 2024. Even in our current financial infirmness, take a €1.1M loss over three years is not going to make or break us. But taking a €1.1M loss in lieu of waiting one additional year (costing only €1.2M) to then instead make a €40.7M profit on the same player (assuming Cruzeiro gets the €50 their asking for, even if they accept the alleged €30M from Zenit its a €20.7M profit & that Juve could desperately use).

I know mistakes like this are bound to happen from time to time when you’re a club as big as Juventus & such a long history… I dont know.

Anyone else starting to feel like Captain Hindsight?

Thats for reading my ramblings, if you’ve made it this far. I hope you all have a wonderful new year.

And may it be a year of positivity for our beloved club. Forza Juventus. Fino alla fine.

I always thought we should have given him more time. Another loan at least. He was young, had a serious injury but was at an age where full recovery was possible

  2. Over the recent years, we’ve been extremely terrible at identifying talent (both up and coming, as well as existing), more often than not selling these talents and then purchasing higher cost players that turn out to be complete bums. The list is so long… Romero, Huijsen, Dragusin, Weah, Mbangula, Alberto Costa, Soule, etc.

Less of a youngster, but McKennie is another case of a player we keep trying to offload, but he keeps making his way to the starting line up. Just look at his performances under Spaletti.

We might be taking the saying “the grass is always greener on the other side” too literally, and we should honestly just **look in our own backyard**.

  3. No offense but you’re very gullible if you believe that Madrid would pay 40 or 50 million for Jorge.

He struggled with injuries in Serie A and when he was healthy played poorly. Soule thrived at Frosinone that season while he struggled. Him doing well back in Brazil is a nice story and also positive for Juve because they reportedly hold 50 percent of his next sale (I think I’ve also seen reports saying 30 percent).

Every sale of a young player isn’t a opportunity for feelings of regret. And btw, the latest reports are actually that he’s gonna move within Brazil, to Flamengo.
