James Garner was outstanding – scoring a first-half opener and producing a sublime pass for Thierno Barry’s second in Everton colours – to hand the injury-hit Blues a hugely-impressive 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The odds looked stacked against David Moyes’ men – already without the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye – after Charly Alcaraz and Michael Keane were ruled out through injuries.

But the Toffees have shown plenty of fight since Moyes’ return to the Club, and they displayed it again in abundance to register another away victory and take their points tally in 2025 to 59 – bettered only once since 2013.

Garner put Everton in front on 19 minutes when he collected Dwight McNeil’s through ball and drove a low finish into the far corner. And he turned provider with 11 minutes remaining when his pinpoint pass allowed Barry to score his second Blues goal – having netted his first against the same opponents in the 3-0 triumph at Hill Dickinson Stadium earlier this month.

  1. The key thing here is that our players tried to do things. Iroegbunam tried driving the ball forward, Garner did that lovely turn to put Barry through on goal.

Contrast that to Dyche's Forest who never showed any initiative and just played safe and slung crosses in all match.

You have to take chances in football, you have to try and make something happen when you have to opportunity and not just keep playing it the way you are facing

  2. Were the friedkins at the game? I think I saw them at the telly but had my kid crying for attention and only saw a glimpse of what seemed to be dan and his son.

  3. Legends say that Aznou is still standing by the sidelines to be subbed on 😅 Felt horrible for the kid. Give him a couple minutes at least :/ good win though, decided to do a Stake punt on us winning this one even with all the injuries we have and glad the lads didnt dissapoint me at least 😄 also Tim played his absolute best 90 today. Really really good performance and looking to be a bonafide prem player after all 👏
