That’s right – the coach (former? Kind of?) of the US National Team has accused one of his best friends of blackmailing him over the playing time of a player at the world cup. We have reached levels of insanity in the US national team that I thought we would never see again after losing to Trinidad and Tobago, but clearly I had never met the Reynas and the Berhalters who had a soap opera in store.
I do hope one day the USMNT is isolated from the fury of soccer moms everywhere but that is proving more difficult that you could possibly imagine. I have to say I’m not surprised, Gio Reyna’s mom could run through a brick wall to get her point across and sometimes the world needs that, but I don’t think the US national team does. It also does not need Gregg Berhalter so that’s fun.

Berhalter should've NEVER been hired as Team USA manager to begin with. Hopefully if things dont work at Leeds for Jesse Marsch he can take over.
Also, I thought you'd know this by now, but this would all be public even if Berhalter never made that talk. The Athletic already had articles in the work that named Reyna and what he did during the world cup. It's not the coaches fault people came for him, if anything, the version Berhalter gave was much kinder to Reyna than the version The Athletic made.
Just give up trying to spare Reyna any blame. He made is bed. He deserved all the shit he got, probably got less than he deserved even, with how all Americans wanted to protect him. Now it's even clearer he deserves it. There's one simple fix to all of this: Gio Reyna starts acting profesionally. Then there's no problem whatsoever.
Zealand, with the new supporter dynamics in FM23, how far can we stretch their impact? E.g. could the fans ever veto our dismissal after a 0 point season, if 100% of them cared primarily about playing local talent or the quality of their hotdogs? Also, does the size, atmosphere, and home/away split of a crowd have any impact on players? If so, would fostering ultras improve home advantage etc.?

you and I part ways . why is it her job to keep quiet about berhalter's indiscretions in the past. nowadays people's personal actions can interfere with their professional career. he shouldn't have been hired to begin with because of nepotism . the biggest problem that U,S. Soccer has ALWAYS had is politics. our players are and have never been the best players in the country. everyone knows it. it's the good ole boy club and it stinks of impropriety . Berhaler should NEVER have told Gio that he will not be used in the biggest event of his career. that was extremely unprofessional and a stupid coaching decision because there may come a time that you may need to rely on that player through the course of the tournament where mental strength is almost as important as ability. Berhalter basically crushed that young kids confidence and it helped no one. then rubbing salt in the wound by publicizing it iat a speaking event . yes gif is a professional but the coach needs to be the most professional of them all since he is in charge of the whole team. berhalter made this stupid decision and tried to make it look like a 20 yr old kid couldn't be professional about berhalter's unprofessional behavior. Berhalter needs to go like yesterday

The problem is the ridiculously insular way US Soccer has always been run. It's "who do you know" right on down the line. If you run an organization the same way the mafia does, you shouldn't be surprised when mafia style drama erupts. Maybe start with a coach not from New Jersey.

I'm torn. I don't like cancel culture, but I also don't think Berhalter is the right man for the job. I don't want him to get sacked for the wrong reasons, but he does need to go.
Nice video explaining all the drama. But we are all forgetting the importance of the time-line. The Reynas are basically using the Berhalter leaking of the internal team issues with Gio – they are using this as the excuse that triggered them (the Reynas) to disclose the 31 year old "abuse" drama. And that is the part we need to focus on in the time-line (the Berhalter leak about the internal team issues with Gio). The plain fact is that the news about the Berhalter Leadership Summer (where he leaked the team issue with Gio) – happened AFTER the WC was already over. Already Over. The world learned about this AFTER the WC was over. The actual Leadership happened when the US team was already eliminated, but before the WC Final. The thing to note is that the Reynas were already threatening to disclose troubling "allegation" way before the Leadership Summit even happened yet (or when the news came out about it). That means the Reynas were threating to disclose the allegation during the actual WC group stages. So there is no valid excuse about Berhalter "leaking" internal team issues about Gio – because the Leadership Summit did even happen yet. The Reynas disclosed "something" before the summit, otherwise – why would the USSF start an investigation before the WC Finals, which was also before the new of the summit "abuse drama" came out. This is all on the Reynas. Either way…. I wanted Berhalter out before any of this happend (I wanted him out like during the early WCQ stages). Now I want all of them out. Berhalter out for being a bad coach, the Reyans for being bad people, and Gio to serve as punishment to the Reynas and to send a message to all player and parents (that there actions impact more than just the players). All of them out.

Solid video and is pretty funny however there is a few things wrong here. You make it seem like Danielle contacted Ernie DURING the WC due to Gio's playing time which is not true according to the info we have. She stated that she contacted Ernie on Dec. 11 due to Gregg's comments about Gio at a conference. Something you don't even mention in the video at all. Instead you made it seem like it was bc of some mean comments online by fans lol what? Also weird that you made fun of Danielle for stupidly thinking her convo with Ernie, a personal friend, would remain private but didn't do the same for Gregg stupidly thinking the same thing with his comments made in front of 300 ppl. Seems a little one sided. Also the framing of the issue as one soccer mom unhinged I think distracts from the real issue which is the nepotism and cronyism that is at the heart of USSF. To your credit you did mention it a bit at the very end. You also mention Pepi and how his parents didn't call Ernie but forgot to mention that's bc THEY DON'T HAVE HIS PERSONAL NUMBER!
