Should Declan Rice Actually Be Arsenal CAPTAIN?

I dislike seeing Saka with the armband.

Very stupid question. Arsenal is trying to compete for a title and you have a so called analyst discussing arm bands. Rice is English and he is a leader but so is Odegaard, Big Gabby, Saka and others. Why would you remove Odegaard and jump over Saka and Big Gabby to make Rice captain, totally absurd and shows that you have never played at any level. The loudest person is not always captain and seniority in the team among equals also means you don’t remove a captain who has done nothing wrong in the middle of the season if at all and then you act like Saka and Big Gabby who wear the armband too are nothing. Saka is the best player at Arsenal and he is a leader, Big Gabby is the emotional on field leader of the team and Rice is also a leader. If you have nothing positive to add, don’t just post for the sake of it.

Doesn’t matter. The leader-type players like Rice, Gabriel & Saka are in the team anyway. Only issue is whether they would play better with the arm band (doubt it) and whether Odegard would play better without it (unlikely he would now that he has it as it would feel like a demotion which ever way you look at it).
So although it’s interesting, it’s actually irrelevant.
The issue would come up if Odegard falls out of the team and can’t get back in based on form, then you’d have to consider it long term but if that happened he’d be sold, so it would sort itself out anyway.
Rice is going to be a leader with or without the armband and that is good for the club.

IMHO. If am given the chance, i will make Gabriel (defender) the captain, second to Rice. These are real leaders cuz Gabriel carry's the team on his back in games and he is like a commander on the pitch. Rice is a good worker but he doesn't score game decisive goal often. Gabriel reminds me like John Terry and VVD. These are power leaders, it has go to the most influential player on the pitch. To me Odegaard is not that guy. There is a reason why the debate even came up. Do u guys also feel that aura when we win a corner kick (Gabriel) i always get goose bumps and excitement. I would say we have our own JT. The lampards, Odegaard to is too passive for me and he doesn't that aura. That's what is also disturbing us, our game, our mentality. If we have a disciplined defender as Gabriel as our captain, the team will be more motivated. Our strength is in the defense and from there he can oversee a lot of stuff ahead of you. Saka is a fan favourite, our show boy, our star boy, we should just allow him play his football and just dominate the front space. All these guys, that is Gabriel, Rice and Saka. If they have deep in form, they would be criticized heavily but in all, the one that will be less criticized is Gabriel. Why? Cuz he is come through for us so many times and he doesn't put is foot wrong instead he puts his body in the line with his blocks. Oh i miss him a lot.

Bad time to be talking about leadership change but I do think Odegaard's problem is that he appears to shrink in tight games. It may just be that tension adversely affects a touch player's game more than it would a more robust player

Voting against your teammates is first sign of trouble. So the vote doesn't really show the real feeling.

What is the whole process of selecting a Captain at the club?

It should be Gabriel, even the rice shout is bias, Gabriel takes personal offence for every blade of grass that doesn’t favour us. Rewatch his signing interview, the guy is the most committed in the squad only cares about arsenal.

I think you are wrong. Saka and Ordegaard are technially better. Rice cannot sort out midfield in pressure games. All points lost by Arsenal was poor organisation in midfield.

Absolutely, Odegaard looks too weak, meek and beta to be a captain. Rice would bring back the Vieira aura

Odegaard definitely a good role of model but I just feel Rice is much better in term of his passion on field. You need someone dare to shout out for anything benefit to our team and bring up the team spirit right on field. Look at the pass example, Vieira, Adams, Liverpool VDD, MU Roy Keane, Man City Kompany, even Silva now also dare to make noise. Odegaard can be great captain but he need to change his passion on the field.

Rice should be the captain. He is always available and always The General in midfield. Has carried the club through big games and shows some of the most heart in the team. Declan is one of the only ones that portrays a True Gunner.

The lack of on pitch leadership was a massive problem at arsenal for a long time. The fact that we have 5 or 6 players that make a viable captain says volumes about Arteta's recruitment

Please I think we as the fans should stop comparing. Odegaard came in, helped us and was later signed as a player , yes Declan too has contributed but this shouldn’t be a debate. Let the coach, team decides that. Peace
