How will he handle the hype?
That was the big question facing forward Jordan Morris after he signed a Homegrown contact with the Seattle Sounders this January.
The young US national teamer had sizeable expectations placed on his rookie campaign when he chose Seattle over German club Werder Bremen. Plenty of folks predicted the Stanford University product would rack up gaudy numbers in his first season a pro.
Things didn’t quite start so well, however. Morris failed to score in his first five matches as the Sounders got off to a 1-3-1 start. He found his footing in mid-April, scoring his first goal on April 16 and going on to tie an MLS rookie record by scoring in four-straight matches. He now has five goals and an assist in 14 appearances entering Seattle’s home match against NYCFC on Saturday (5 pm ET; ESPN in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada).
The latest episode of MLS Insider looks at the start of Morris’ Sounders career, exploring the pressures he faces and how he moved past the early jitters. Check it out above.

#Hype
Bring on the NO! We DON'T need another Freddy Adu
From a Dynamo fan, Morris does deserve rookie of the year and all the luck to help his team win the MLS cup.
Should leave MLS to improve development. See ton of potential as a young fast strong finisher something everyone wants in their forward. Scary to see that this pressure got to him because if he plays in Europe it'll be much more full of pressure.
MLS was right move but I think he should leave in a year or 2
what happened to all the Julian greene hype?
He should have gone to Europe. Glad he's doing well. But this is too comfortable there in Seattle, its going to be a while before he really flourishes.
The hype was gone as soon as he chose Seattle over Werder Bremen. I remember a lot of people saying that Bremen was going to get relegated and they didn't. Morris would of gotten playing time and his development would of been much different compared to playing in MLS. He could of learned a lot more from German trainers , even Yedlin became a better defender from playing in Sunderland. It's not often USA players get offers from Europe, its a missed opportunity.
I just got signed with the real madrid under 21, leaving for madrid tomorrow from los angeles, you will know my name in about 2 years when I get on the real madrid squad. my name is isaiah gunter, I am german and black. wish me luck.
He's no Jack Harrison.
I remember wanting to go to UCSB soo bad because I love soccer and they don't have a soccer team so I watched UCSB v Stanford and I was routing for SB but damn I thought, Morris was so good that game, it was the first time I watched him play and I thought the U.S need to sign him. Coincidentally he was playing for the U.S a few days later. I was like, WOW! I remember this kid, he is good! Then I hear a club wants him in Germany and I thought everything was set, but then I see him play for the Sounders. I think it's sweet that he wants to stay with his family but then I saw a pattern, I heard afterwards about this ticking time bomb on weather or not he wanted to go pro, and I wondered why in the hell would you force someone who doesn't want it that bad to play when you have soooo many other young boys you want it more than he does. That's a problem in the U.S scouting process, to be better than we are now we need the talent of Morris but the heart of Cristiano Ronaldo, the reason why Ronaldo is the best is more than just talent, it's hard work and sacrifices, I know not everyone can be as hard working as Ronaldo but I bet you can find boys with the same talent of Morris and more of the fire to leave the U.S and go to Germany to play in a better league and grow their career. I hope Pulisic does well but he says that he still wants to be a normal kid, truth is to be more than mediocre he can not be a normal kid, normal kids are mediocre. As a fellow teenager I have to say yes let the kid rest, but as a hungry U.S soccer fan I have to say work your freaking buttocks off and get over it, we want to win.
Look it's Freddy adu.
Sigh seems like a cool Manager to play under
I just hope he makes a move to Europe sooner than later. The MLS isn't good for our youth development. It's a very poor league from a technical standpoint. He can be as good as Dempsey has been for us if he goes off to the bundesliga or even England to develop.
So pretty much if you don't go into academy you won't make it pro wow
The reason Pulisic was selected instead of Morris is because Pulisic went the Europe way aka the right way
Typical Americans and their coddling of footballers. This is why Americans will never win anything because "everyone" gets a trophy mentality rules the day in football. He's not even the same class as Delle Alli,Eric Dier,Kingsly Coman,Rashford,Matial. They should scrutinize their footballers the same way they do their Basketball players. Anthony Davis,Okafor, D'angelo Russell,Ben Simmons. Will that piss off too many soccer moms?
Can't wait to see this guy in the future
Well this never happened before….(cough cough Freddy Adu cough cough)
He looks like Wayne Rooney
I've known him since I was 4, glad he made it.

Im a t1d to and i play soccer i was diagnosed at 21 months old i play goalkeeper and centerback
Does anyone know his sexuality? I almost don’t want to ask because it will be heartbreaking to find out if hes not a gay (like me).
American players are way to conservative. They play not to lose and are afraid of taking risks
