  1. The age difference is also significant. Müller's greatest success was the 2014 World Cup. His most famous goal was the opening goal in the 7-1 semi-final victory against Brazil. A Whitecaps player who is 20 years old today was 9 at the time. Imagine what it must feel like to be on the pitch at just 20 years old with a world champion who won the title when you were a boy watching the game at home on TV. The younger players, in particular, certainly have great respect for Müller. They know him as an internationally successful athlete of their sport from their own childhoods.
