Coach Greg, you cannot be over x Kg in soccer! There is a limit!
Yup I've done things by accident and still got punished for it. Happens when you don't double check the things you think you understand. A professional athlete didn't check their medication to make sure it's not on the banned list of substances. To me, it doesn't matter if it was a mistake or not. It's his job to make sure he's clean at all times, even if it was an accident. This is an example to not be careless at the professional level.
"Oopsies" are for 6 year olds, not grown adults.
Unfortunately I agree with the punishment, maybe not the length of but in general. It sucks it truly does and I believe when he says it was a mistake. But you have to keep with the rules no matter what. Cause it'll always turn around to well you did this for so and so so why not me and all that. Same thing with if someone who got a DWI fails probation and goes to jail for blowing alcohol levels but they just accidentally used mouth wash. Hard to prove on just peoples words. I agree would be a good solution to have a specific list of drugs to cause suspension
In the first place, why his wife was taking this stuff? Why doctor subscribing this one?
Greg and Allie are 100% stoners lol whens the weed channel going public Greg???
They dont even suspend boxers for a year and that can kill someone. Coach can you do a video on canelo who popped positive for clenbuterol and claimed it was from tainted meat although jis trainers are butchers
This punishment is excessive.
People needed Gregg 20 years ago lol. Then there would be less morons in the world!
Surely was being used to rid his body of the actual PEDs
My favorite doctor talking about my favorite sport. My week couldn't get any better.
Coach Greg, would you do a natty or not video on Goretzka?
Like if you agree.
Hey Greg time to do a Natty or Not Tom Brady ? Do you Dare 🙂
Greg wtf. Why are you talking about a soccer player from my country(the Netherlands)?
Life is so weird right now.
Furosemide?! Well, that sucks
He would cover up another drug with a drug that is more likely to be caught if he had this excuse in mind. The normal sentence for drug use is 4 years, with this excuse he only gets a one year sentence.
Completely agree Greg I’m fine would’ve been enough
It is interesting because in football indeed everyone does cheat a lot and drug testing is an absolute joke.
About the punishment. Onana was about to transfer to a bigger club and get a better payment (Borussia Dortmund). The bigger club however went back and the transfer is not happening. So Onana got punished with more than just a year off.
If your taking steroids for a sport where it’s not allowed then the punishment is deserved. Doping is too big a problem to not suspend their players for it. In my opinion, a positive drug test should result in a lifetime ban!
The only argument I can think of against this is that athletes are expected to perform at a certain level and are paid accordingly by their contracts that they signed, so if they are performing worse by taking certain drugs like this guy, it makes sense they would get banned because of it. You can’t perform at an insane level, get a high paying contract, then take whatever drugs you want (for other reasons besides the sport), and perform terribly. His punishment was harsh either way, looked like they were trying to make a statement.
The same injustice was against Maradona for taking efedrine , to much disproportionate punishment, they ruined a brilliant career like can possibly affect this goalkeeper
It seems more likely to me, that he was probably already taking diuretics to clear the PEDs from his system, and the anti-doping agency just got lucky to catch him within Furosemide's short detection window. There are so many athletes in all kinds of sports "accidentally" taking this specific drug, that it's really hard for me to believe that they're all legitimate.
They made an example of him plain and simple.
dunno about drugs, but maybe he since it's diuretic, he might took it to help flash other banned substances from his kidneys? 1 year ban is nothing, he should have been banned for life, mistake or not mistake.
You get caught breaking the rules, you are a cheater period. Anyone in sports getting caught positive for ANY banned substance should be banned for life from any sport with such rules. It doesn't matter if it makes sense or not(like marijuana being illegal and alcohol legal), rules are the rules.
@10:36 that's rubbish, they look nothing alike and I'm pretty sure containers for those pills look nothing alike either o_OXXX
They should seriously discriminate between the drugs they test for to see if it even enhances the performance for that particular sport. This is just ridiculous.
It was his fault…
For not be a Bayern's Player.
So why its banned in soccer if its gonna decrase the performance.
Well put mate. It was unfair ban. would you believe the same guys who ban him 12 months for taking pill accidentally, ban 10 matches another player who was found guilty of racial abuse absolutely mind boggling. They are corrupt organization Uefa and fifa too.
ONANA- WHAT CAN GET WORSE THAT THIS
SIGHS FOR ARSENAL
Could you make the argument that being dried out would make him lighter and be able to move quicker to block shots? I doubt it cause I assume that you’d also be really drained so it’d be counter productive.
Agree with you coach, but what about the possibility that he had been using PEDs all along and used the diuretic when confronted with the scenario of being tested?
If this were the case, surely getting banned due to using diuretics sounds much better than getting banned for PEDs.
