Post-match press conference with Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe following their 4-1 win against Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium in the Premier League.
Malick Thiaw scored twice, including the fastest Premier League goal of the season after around 55 seconds, with Lewis Miley and Nick Woltemade also on target for Newcastle. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall pulled one back for Everton with a brilliant finish but it was only a consolation on a tough night for Jordan Pickford and his defence.
Howe reflects on finally ending the questions about their away form with a first league win on the road since April, praises the impact of summer signings Thiaw, Miley and Woltemade, and explains his decision to rotate after a draining Champions League defeat in Marseille earlier in the week. He discusses Aaron Ramsdale’s first Premier League start for Newcastle in place of the injured Nick Pope, the importance of midfield where he feels games are “won and lost”, much-improved set pieces, and the performances of young full backs Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento. Howe hails Lewis Miley’s maturity despite his age, gives an update on Sven Botman’s back issue and other injuries, and talks about putting things right for the travelling fans after the disappointment and difficult experience in Marseille.

Damn fine🎉 game… 🎉 Congratulations to the Gaffer + the whole team Hwtl 💀 ☠️ 💀
A timely win with a very strong performance to match. Miley and Elanga certainly haven't done themselves any harm in terms of getting more minutes. The two fullbacks coming back into the team made a massive difference and like Howe says it's a step forward after a shaky start to the season. Big game at home against Tottenham upcoming.
I think that was Miley's best ever game
Howe was under pressure for some recent odd decisions, but he's got Newcastle into a decent enough position going into Christmas
Eddie: Nick, how's that groin strain?
Pope: I don't have a groin strain boss!
Eddie: I said………
Absolutely buzzing well done the lads all we need is consistency and a think it’s coming ! Miley is unbelievable and always shows it
Great game for many players, but take a moment to appreciate that ball from Lewis Hall on 57 to put Barnes through, if Barnes scored it would have been one of the best assists of the season so far, he's been learning tricks from Fabian Schar.
To think fans were calling for his head a couple of weeks ago. The fella oozes class doesn’t let any pressure get to him. Pretty sure that pope isn’t injured he’s just handled the situation well to keep the media away.
Well done wor Eddie & the Lads! 🖤🤍 UP THE TOON!
Fast starts from NUFC. Finally we kicked on ❤❤❤❤
To think we could have had Eddie manage us, all the best in your upwards trajectory Mags
Good try😂
Newcastle united do NOT DARE sell lewis miley 😤. We cannot lose another geordie superstar 😤
What a superb performance and management
Botman injured again!? I’d replace him and Willock in the summer.
Lewis Hall is top player He is so talented
Sat there at Hill Dick yesterday…..incredulous………………Pickfords worst game as an Everton player..and smirking after he totally phucked up for goal no 2. Tim Ireb' was disgraceful………..no effort…ambled around, didnt tackle……….. never want to see him in a blue shirt ever again.
Barry? we must stop feeling sorry for him. He is division 2 standard..if that. He is physically weak, like Betto has no balance, hasnt produced ONE shot on goal yet. His "goal" wasnt deserved, he mis hit it, so rightly it was cancelled out….. although TBH it hit his chest and sholder..NOT his arm. All STOP pretending this guy will EVER be a decent striker..he wont. Moyes..embarrassin to suggest that Newcastle are a much better team??? Thats BS…. Newcastle hadnt won a game away from home……….as usual, Everton like to give these teams their first break……..were good at that. Phucking dire. Why wont Moyes play Alcaraz?? or Dibling?? To suggest the rumour that he doesnt train well is a load o cock. Dont our scouting team do a proper job???? ffs……………. Please people, stop suggesting Barry will suddenly gain poise control and skill……its embarrassing for the club to pretend this guy will come good. Its also embarrassing for Barry….to put him out there………….. Middle of the park was spacious for them……….no one running off the ball..no shots…ZILCH…………..appalling..not surprised 50 percent phucked off at half time..game was gone………….and we all new it. I stayed for 80…phuck knows why………………………
Was that lee ryder asking the same questions just been asked?, new players bedding in and did it feel good to win? Bloody hell man, pin back yer lugs
That's more like it 😅😅
