Embargoed post-match press conference with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola after their 3-2 win over Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.

Phil Foden opened the scoring after just 59 seconds and then smashed home a stoppage-time winner at 90+1′ to secure a dramatic victory. Josko Gvardiol had put City 2-0 up after 25 minutes. Despite the lead, Leeds fought back after the break through Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha — but Foden’s late strike rescued the three points.

Guardiola reflects on the roller-coaster game, praises Foden’s mentality, ambition and clutch performance, and explains why he constantly urges his players to stay alert and fight until the final whistle. He also rejects the idea of time-outs in football, describes the need for attackers with a “sense of goal” to stay close to danger areas, and insists top teams must get goals from many players, not rely on just one.
