According to reports coming out of Italy, Manchester City are among a cluster of clubs looking to sign Atalanta defender, Robin Gosens, this summer.
Calciomercato make the claim, suggesting that City, along with the likes of Leicester, Juventus, and Barcelona, all hold an interest in Gosens. The Atalanta star’s contract expires in 2023.
Gosens, who starred for Germany in the Euros, has impressed massively in recent seasons. Known for being a creative force down the left, he scored 12 and set up 10 in all competitions last term.
That form saw him earn comparisons with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold back in 2020. The Reds star, as we know, is well-known for delivering in the final third.
City manager Pep Guardiola is looking to improve his side in the next few windows as some players reach the end of their shelf life. This summer saw City spend £100m on Jack Grealish while the club remain keen on Harry Kane.
Gosens, who is an attacking left-back by trade, would slot in well in what has been a problematic position for City at times.
At 27, you would imagine Gosens’ time for moving on is coming. He’s done so, so well with Atalanta, but a big club beckons.
