  1. Everyone is missing one very important point. The USMNT coach determine how many minutes Gio got to play in the 3 years prior to the World Cup. Giving him only 400 minutes in 3 years is a disgrace. The reason Gio got so few minutes was to set him up for not giving him an opportunity to display his talents on the World's Stage in Qatar.

  2. Gio Reyna is an amazing talent! Argentina fought to get him before he committed to USA. Reyna is the best player after pulisic on that team and should have played in the world cup.

  3. KAREN Reyna is going to call the manger (or accuse him of 30 year old domestic abuse) if her son doesn't start! AWFUL look for Reyna….he should be ashamed

  4. They went through all the trouble to get him and FOR NO REASON…decide not to play him. I'd be pissed too. You put me on the squad and then just say you're not playing but train hard like you are. That's stupid. They should've given him a fair shot. Not bench him for some trash white players that are fully American. That's all it was. US men's soccer sucks A$$

  5. His so-called apology was more about him blaming the coach for outing him than it was about owning up to his behavior. You can say that his parents' actions are separate from his, but you can't deny that he also has a sense of entitlement that is disproportionate to what he has achieved so far.

  6. I get it: you guys can't talk bad about US soccer. So let me bring it up. You don't bench your top talent at the World Cup. Nobody seems to want to question why Berhalter did that. The coach mismanaged his team and that led to the level of disfunction you saw and the poor showing in the tournament. Then he tried to get out ahead of it in his first public forum, essentially throwing the kid under the bus. Horrible, horrible move. There's no defense for what he did. Next!

  7. The ONLY reason Gio got as far as he did is his father. But that is now at the end.
He is nowhere the player he's was built and made out to be.

  8. Hopefully Gio grows from this. I understand why he acted like he did now because his parents made him feel entitled. I hope that this is out of his system. If he stays healthy and earns his position, look out, we all know he has the talent.

  9. He needs to distance himself from his parents actions …his actions made him look like a spoiled kid…but his parents actions made the whole family look bad. And I doubt Gio was even involved with that.

  10. The way Americans are trashing him, Gio Reyna should have picked Argentina. At least on that team he would have deserved to actually ride the bench and he would have won a World Cup albeit barely participating but still better than this BS treatment he’s getting from his supposed compatriots.

  11. I deal with it parents all the time in the recreational U12. Same drama parents mad because their kid's don't play full games o you take a kid out because he is lose in the pitch. O I see the kid scare and don't help their team. In the case of Geo Reyna and he's parents. That's no excuses. Don't matter how talented you are o whatever you parents are you your self have to be the professional because that's you job. And you are in the elite. I you look at Cristiano Ronaldo and criticize the guy because he feels he have earned the right to be in the pitch and not in the bench. For everything he have accomplished in he's years in the elite . But y'all come up with all the excuses in the world for Geo Reyna. You are just losing you credibility. I watch the German league and to be honest Geo R and Cristian are not that much different in talent at the same age.

  12. Both Gio's mom and Berhalter acted much worse than Gio did, and neither has owned up to what they did the way a 20 year old has done. This shouldn't be held against him.

  13. I think this will affect how usa team fans think of him, but this won't follow him in Europe. If he continues to develop into a star in ta top five European league, the USA fb as will come around.

  14. Should this be surprising in a generation where parents call and email college professors on behalf of their kids and young people want to have parents with them at job interviews (Wall Street jobs)?

  15. This is such a non story… no one will care moving forward. Hopefully his parents do better staying back next time. But I'm sure that will be considered in next coach. Players will want to win, thats what they will be focused on.

  16. The next big tournament is the summer. Gold cup 2023. if gio plays in the gold cup, he needs to lead us to glory otherwise we know who is getting crucified. His parents royally fucked him. Hopefully they still have a stable relationship because I'm fairly certain nobody else wants a relationship with those snake parents of his.
