The all-action frontman, on loan from Como, headed in Town’s third in their 4-1 win at Swansea City, having come close to scoring on numerous occasions so far this campaign.

And he celebrated with almost the entire Town team, with subs even getting involved – it’s clear he’s a very popular member of the squad.

“Everyone’s delighted,” Walton said. “I think the fans are delighted for him, we’re delighted for him.

“It’s a big moment for him because he works really hard when he comes off the bench and the games that he’s started. It’s obviously pleasing for him.

“He’s determined and hard-working, he’s got all the attributes to succeed at this level. It’s a nice goal for him this afternoon to get things moving.”

And a smiling McKenna enthused: “You can see how happy everyone is for him – he’s been waiting for a while.

“He’s had chances every time he’s been on the pitch, really, which I always say is the main thing.

“He’s an outstanding character, I have to say. A brilliant human being, a really good addition to the group. A real team player, really humble, wants to do well for himself and others.

“As a striker, it’s important to get your first goal. That’ll help his confidence. We’re going to need him.”
