Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is ‘100 per cent’ sure that star midfielder Rodri is on the road to recovery and will return to full first-team action sooner rather than later. The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner made a return from an anterior cruciate ligament injury at the end of last season – and played during the Club World Cup – but has struggled for fitness this campaign, completing a full 90 minutes just twice. But Guardiola is convinced that with time, the Spaniard will be back to his best. “I’m 100 per cent convinced he will be back and will play,” Guardiola said, speaking on Friday. “Maybe it will take a little bit time to reach the level that he had. But to play the game, game, game, he’s going to do it. It’s just we have to be sure the moment is there.” Manchester City host Arne Slot’s resurgent Liverpool on Sunday in a game that could have huge ramifications for the destination of this season’s Premier League title.
