Liverpool were fortunate to escape with a replay on Saturday against Wolves, as familiar issues resurfaced in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield and beyond.

Matt Addison is joined by Paul Gorst, David Lynch and Keifer MacDonald to discuss where the Reds turn next, the possibility of a transfer changing things in January, the performance of Matheus Nunes, and Cody Gakpo’s debut, among other things, as the panel try and pick the positives out of another disappointing Liverpool performance and result.

  1. You 4 guys are moaning as if LFC are ur babies 👶!! Chill it's still just football and these things happen. So what if we don't qualify for the champions league? Will it be the end of the world? Would it be the 1st time we're missing out? We will bounce back!! Just get behind the team and stop the griping!!

  2. Nunes looked really good in his short appearance the other night. The guy can dribble, pass and tackle pretty darn well. We could have really used him so it’s a shame we didn’t go in for him when we had the opportunity

  3. We haven’t been right since Darwin came. It’s not his fault but the whole system has changed and Salah isn’t doing Salah things anymore. It’s like he’s been hobbled for the good of the team but it’s not for the good of the team because it’s a disaster currently. We will be so lucky to make champions league this season and we badly need to qualify for it if Bellingham is going to be even a remote possibility

  4. I want to see us trying a 3 – 5 – 2. Capitalises on our world class centre backs (even with VVD out we could try Matip, Gomez and Konate), it would take the pressure off our fullbacks and Fabinho in the number 6 and would suit Darwin and Salah who could play more centrally. Also is Gakpo tied to the wing? Wasn’t Gini a winger before he was converted to centre mid? Could Gakpo by utilised similarly?

  5. 13:32 It came off his shin 😂 Go watch it again and you will see I’m not lying. They all count obviously but he was very lucky. I was really happy for him but truth is truth and it was a lucky goal. Hopefully he smashes home a few more in the upcoming games that he actually hits with the correct part of his foot. I really like the guy and only want him to succeed. Klopp has changed the whole system to accommodate him so obviously I want him to score goals. I just think the team is worse off for the changes made and Salah is less of a goal scorer now than he was before Darwin came

  6. I think we need a centre back as well now. All getting injuries is because klopp kept playing the same players. I think a 4-5-1 is the only option. Pack the midfield.

  7. I find it hard to believe our players have lost their legs. I think it more that they are playing with injuries and are playing within themselves to avoid making them worse. I may be clutching at straws but blaming too many games in the past and that the players are burnt out is a bit of vague reasoning.

  8. Tells you everything you need to know when we sign a left sided forward out of nowhere when our midfield is screaming for legs and engine.

Something is wrong at the club, weather that’s false promises made from ownership, funds available and recruitment heads exiting and it’s glaring to see on the pitch!!

  9. Klopp looks finished he’s old now and the two seasons of scoring 90+ points and not winning has taken its toll. Whilst city were give at 8 free wins by opponents and 8-10 var decisions going in their favour to win games

  10. Stubborn is stuck on 433 but got rid of the 2 key men who made it work Gini and Mane. He was better off keeping Gini and getting rid of Kieta but messed that up

  11. Finally, the silver lining merchants have come around to realize that this club is indeed in a crisis. "Intensity" is not a sustainable strategy if you don't replenish each line often. injuries have always been our Achilles heel and now even healthy players just don't have any mileage left in their legs to run like hell for 90+ mins. Been saying for MONTHS that Klopp needs to change the system and toss the insanely high line out until he can get at least 2 new quality, healthy, starting midfielders. A 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 is necessary at this point. Can't keep trying the same thing and expecting different results. Top four is BARELY STILL attainable. Hopefully Klopp's stubbornness doesn't cost us CL football next season.

  12. It’s dumb whenever anyone says bringing in a midfielder won’t solve all issues. Stating the obvious but it’s proven that when Liverpool go in and get signings in January. It tends to help out in some form and right now none of our midfielders are able to perform the press correctly. It’s crucial to get a player now and let them go through the season rather than wait for the summer when targets will be fought over and tons of teams , Chelsea , Newcastle , arsenal , united , city will be fighting for similar type players for the midfield positions. It only makes sense to bring players in now. Saying to wait for the summer is just lazy nonsense.
