João Pedro Cavaco Cancelo (port. João Pedro Cavaco Cancelo; born May 27, 1994 in Barreiro) is a Portuguese footballer, defender for Manchester City and the Portuguese national team.
João is a graduate of the Barreirense club from his hometown. In 2008 he moved to Benfica. From 2012 to 2014, the player played for the club’s backup squad. For the first team of the Eagles, Juan had only one meeting of the Portuguese championship – on May 10, 2014 against Porto. The football player spent the 2014/15 season on loan in the Spanish “Valencia” and played ten meetings there. The next season, the bats bought out the player.
On 23 August 2017, Canselo went on a one-year loan to the Italian Internazionale. The agreement between the clubs provided for the possibility of buying out the footballer’s contract. Canselo called the transfer to the Milan club “a historic step in his career.”
On June 27, 2018, Juventus bought the rights to Cansela for 40 million euros, with which the player signed a five-year contract.
On August 7, 2019 he moved to Manchester City. The footballer signed a five-year contract with the “townspeople”. The deal amounted to EUR 65 million.
