I think the thing is that in addition to being talented, messi has always been painted as the "good guy" that you are supposed to root for while ronaldo being equally talented is portrayed as the "bad guy" also adding the fact that ronaldo has repeatedly upsets fans of various teams like atletico, barca etc and also fellow footballers like ibra,pique etc…yeah its the natural inclination of anyone to choose messi over ronaldo unless you really are a fan of ronaldo or has played alongside him…while the reality is that these two are incomparable
