Today, we’re taking a look at How Hansi Flick has turned Bayern Munich into the best team in the world in tactics explained.

After a poor start to the season, Bayern Munich sacked struggling manager Niko Kovač. Hansi Flick took over in November and ever since Bayern have looked devastating. Hansi Flick has already led them to the Bundesliga title and now his side look like the favourites to win the Champions League after the destruction of Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Diving into the tactics, Hansi Flick’s 4-2-3-1 system with this Bayern Munich side is very reminiscent of Bayern’s treble winners, with a controlling pivot, flying full backs and dangerous inside forwards playing off an elite striker. They attack in a lopsided 3-2-5, focusing on getting the ball wide and crossing to their physical forwards in Lewandowski, Müller and Perisic.

Bayern aren’t just an exciting attacking side, no one in Europe works harder than Hansi Flick’s men. Bayern’s press is the most effective in Europe right now. They are the most successful team across Europe’s Top five Leagues in terms of successful pressures, winning possession back 34.8% of the time. Their 4-2-3-1 offers great coverage, allowing their hyper aggressive tactics to excel as they break on their unlucky foes.

Hansi Flick has his tactics spot on, but every top side to win the Champions League has a main man and that’s exactly what Robert Lewandoski offers Bayern Munich. Most previous winners have had a talisman. Zidane’s Madrid had Cristiano Ronaldo, Enrique’s Barca had Lionel Messi and Flick’s Bayern have Lewandowski. The Pole is in the form of his life, scoring at 1.2 goals per game in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season and looks poised to fire Bayern to their sixth Champions League!

But anyway guys what do you think? Will Bayern win the Champions League? Can they beat PSG?

  1. I want to see how Klopp’s liverpool handling this bayern. They either getting battered or might win over bayern. Interesting to watch. Bayern can put this as redemption to their last met

  2. This team is like a hybrid of Pep's possession and Klopp's efficiency. The pressing, the space created, the players work ethic, all of them are first class

  3. Tbh I personally think Man city with their full team can beat this bayern team if they play between the lines and quick 1-2s
A ball over to fast wingers can also hurt this bayern team

  4. Attacking full back + false 9 and high line pressure are the most effective tactic in modern football with sweeper offensive goalkeeper of course. I really can't find any better tactic.

  5. Flick transformed Kimmich and Goreztka as double pivot in midfield.Alaba as a CB pair with Niklas Sule is amazing, when alphonso go higher as a fullback Alaba is always there covering his position in back 3 position

  6. Dear Statman Dave, it's phenomenal analysis. Now we need Nagelsmann's Bayern and why Nagelsmann adheres to Flick's principles and is in no hurry to implement his principles. Their styles are similar but still identical.

Apparently the bosses of Bayern do not want to destroy what works well. Tell us what little details Nagelsmann brings to Bavaria
