After more than 800 days behind bars, Dani Alves is finally a free man. On March 28, 2025, Catalonia’s High Court overturned his r*pe conviction, ruling that the evidence was riddled with flaws, contradictions, and lacked corroboration.
👉 What happened?
December 2022: Alves was accused of @ssaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub bathroom.
February 2024: He was sentenced to 4.5 years in pr!son under Spain’s strict consent laws, based largely on the accuser’s testimony.
During pr!son: His fortune collapsed, sponsors like Puma cut ties, Pumas UNAM sued him for $2.2M, and his wife Joana Sanz filed for divorce.
March 2025: The High Court unanimously acquitted him, calling out “flaws and inaccuracies” in the case. Alves walked free after 839 days in Brians 2 pr!son.
