A 96th-minute Gabriel header saw us come from behind to beat Newcastle United late on, having trailed with six minutes to go as we claimed a big early-season three points.
Having found ourselves behind thanks to Nick Woltemade’s opener, Mikel Merino came back to haunt his former club by grabbing us an equaliser to seemingly ensure we left with something to show for our efforts.
Before then we had seen a penalty overturned by VAR after Nick Pope had brought down Viktor Gyokeres, who then went onto have an excellent game between the posts by making a string of saves as he seemed set to be the Magpies’ hero.
However in the dying seconds, Gabriel rose highest to head in a Martin Odegaard corner to end our losing run on Tyneside and close the gap to Liverpool at the top of the table to two points.

Odegaard brought change to the game. Every touch to the ball was incredible
No penalty, no var checked when newcastle scored first goal even though gabriel was fell down, no card in the first minutes for harsh tackeled by Jamaal Lascelles, but still the arsenal show their warrior spirit and persistency to won the game… what a great feeling after the win

The 2nd goal should be disallowed as the keeper is evidently blocked. Arsenal plays basketball in the box since a couple of seasons. Difficult to find rules against it and yet necessary.

Haram ball for the win
For anyone wondering why people are complaining about the referee's decision to overturn the penalty, it's not about whether the decision should have been a penalty or not; it's because the Premier League VAR rules are as follows: "If a clear-and-obvious error is identified by the VAR, for subjective decisions, after checking the attacking possession phase (APP) for any clear infringements by the attacking team, the VAR will advise the on-pitch referees to use the pitchside monitors (the Referee Review Area (RRA)) to review the incident and make a final decision". The referee had stopped play and given the on-field decision of a penalty to Arsenal. That decision was not a "clear and obvious error", so VAR's decision to intervene contradicts their own rules.
we may have won but the ref was pathetic. how is that not a penalty and straight red card? After the VAR gives the ball to Newcastle while Saka was in posession. Unbelieveable. There was another red card on gyokeres where a newcastle player was holding his face and squeezed it. How is that even acceptable from the management and the board? Please don't allow this referee to officiate an Arsenal match again!
Raya needs to work hard not a single GOOD long ball what's the point having keeper who lacks positioning and cannot create opportunities? He is becoming like havertz he knows he would make it to the first 11 no matter what and does not try to prove….
