The Portugal national team paid tribute to Diogo Jota and Jorge Costa in Algés on Tuesday.
The ceremony took place at Praça dos Heróis, the new space of the FPF Arena.
From the stage, Rúben Neves delivered an emotional message:
“Firstly, a word of thanks to the Federation for this beautiful tribute. To thank also to the President of the Republic, mr Prime Minister for being here and being part of this moment. Now, in my name and of the whole national team, a word of comfort for the family and friends of Jorge Costa and to Porto Football Club. Specially for me, and because I feel a bit part of this family, I would like to leave a word of much strength to Rute, the boys and to the parents of Diogo and Andre. As I have said, we, me and the whole national team, will do everything to keep Diogo present with us. Thank you, Jorge, André and Diogo, forever in our hearts.”
Diogo Jota tragically died in a car accident in Spain on 3 July, alongside his brother André Silva.
