Xavi Simons is the truth. Grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and got Tottenham back into the game. Quality player. In this video, Ben Bowman breaks down Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Brighton, a performance Thomas Frank called Spurs’ most complete of the season so far, discussing Xavi Simons role, the constant threat of Mohammed Kudus and why despite being 2-0 down at half-time, there were plenty of positives to take for Spurs.

  1. How big of a selection problem does Frank have going forward at LB? Udogie's ability to overlap is so critical. Spence has played so well, but it seems he could find himself on the bench.

  2. if we go for Savinho in jan along with Hjulmand as a ball playing 6, Vanderson as RB rotation and maybe Van Hecke for CB backup we will be fucking cooking. leaves nice depth and so many options for rotation.

  3. I don't know where Kulusevski goes in this team now. Does he play in the midfield 3 or does Frank find out he's a left winger somehow? He was our best player last year so he needs to be somewhere!

  4. Since i've only been a Tottenham fan for the past few years…I was taken in by Maddison's ability to orchestrate the attack with his vision on the pitch. Ben do you see any comparison between a younger Maddison and Xavi? And if so maybe you could also point out their differences. Thanks Ben, always appreciate your knowledge of breaking down the tactical side of futbol.

  5. I think people are getting a bit ahead of themselves at the moment, such high expectations at times, weโ€™re not even 10 games into a season with a new manager, new ownership (ish), new key signings and weโ€™re sitting 3rd! We have such a fantastic foundation now for progression and if this is the floor – imagine the ceiling, Xavi was a game changer and so many positives to take around the team from a difficult fixture like Brighton away, arguably one of if not our biggest bogey game, these mid table games are what determine our position at the end of the year. great vid Ben, always enjoy watching these analysis.

  6. But Frank said he can play in both positions which I don't like to hear. We must force Tel or Odorbert to play in the left wing position till January. Xavi must play in the middle at all costs.

  7. A terrific team performance from manager coaching staff analysts and players – I also have this silly idea that this black away strip gives the team a real presence…a vibe of invincibility of strength of strong mentality …..going Wednesday curious who he plays…coys

  8. Been calling for Xavi at 10. Literally what we have been crying out for so it was insane to see him languish on the left. Palinha/sarr and bergvall with simons as 10 henceforth

  9. For the first goal we didnt need Bentancur so far up,for the second nobody expected that shot and Vicario should have been ready but he probably didnt think from that angle they would shoot …but still his fault as he should be ready….

  10. I think our best 11 is becoming clear now, and a lot of the rotation options can maintain a level as well…

Xavi, Bergvall and Palhinha in midfield was tastey, and you could see us clicking for the first time in that spell Xavi was playing 10.

Udogie and Odobert linked up so well on the left. Porro and Kudus is unreal. The CBs and GK are obvious. Solanke up front when fit for me, unless Kolo Muani gets going.

Spence, Sarr, Bentancur, and so on can come in and add their own strengths without weakening us as well.

    Feels exciting!

  11. dont think it was our best performance because we were so open to counters, had B righton played the right passes it could of got messy. I think it was our best attacking performance so far this season, we looked more fluid in attack. I think that is what made Frank excited about.

  12. nobody expects this team to be perfect in defense except us as if we were forgetting last season. It was a great second half preformance and its something to look forward to when we can actually look forward to half time changes. In ange if we were losing by the first 45 minutes, halftime felt more like a sign that if anything the game was closer to finishing with a loss. Now it sort of feels good that we have half-time because frank is a manager who can calm his players down and regroup during halftime. My two cents would not call it the greatest preformance under this frank side but its certainly something to look forward to, maybe because the bar from last season is really low but I think this team has a lot to prove not only to the prem but to ourselves. Im excited to see how the future hold out for us nevertheless. Great video as well!
