The Pack got off to a perfect start on the defensive end, as Duke’s first basket didn’t come until the 12:20 mark of the first half. NC State forced 21 Duke turnovers and blocked 9 shots. Terquavion Smith’s 24 points led all scorers, while Jarkel Joiner had 21 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals in the win. DJ Burns had a big game, with 18 points and 4 blocks off the bench. Kyle Filipowski had 14 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Duke.

One thing about the sport of basketball is that athleticism is great, but you must have skilled, smart players as well. I’m not saying Duke players aren’t those things at all….they will get better for sure, but the top ranked recruiting class doesn’t always fair well. Basketball players have to be coached up and developed no matter how great they look on paper. And they have to be consistent. Consistency was a problem for Kentucky last year and has been with many of their top recruiting classes.
This is what's possible when Terq's not taking a bunch of trash shots. You could see in the video Terq getting his feet and shoulders set and shooting in rhythm. He needs to do more of that and he'll have less of those 25% FG games.

I am so sick of this happening to Duke every time they play in Raleigh. They turn into the 2016 Warriors every time Duke comes to town. Duke's effort this time was trash, but this is an annual thing. And then State goes right back to mediocrity the second they no longer see "Duke" on the jersey. Seriously, I think Duke has at least 5 times as many blowout losses at NC State over the last 15 years as at any other venue.
