Mikel Arteta’s substitutions paid off brilliantly as Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard came off the bench to score and get our Champions League campaign off the perfect start.
A tight first 45 saw little in the way of chances, but the duo were brought on to great effect, as 36 seconds after his arrival, Martinelli produced some magic when he was played in on goal by Trossard and advanced 50 yards before tucking the ball home, and the favour was repaid on 84 minutes when Martinelli found Trossard inside the box to seal the win.
It saw us become the first side in the history of the European Cup to win six consecutive matches against Spanish sides, with Martinelli netting long-distance strikes in Spain against Sevilla, Real Madrid and now tonight to complete a unique hat-trick in Arteta’s homeland.

Reasons I will never rate players like Madueke, so high like Arsenal fans have been doing for the past 2 games. Some even mention Saka,; saying Noni is already better than Martinelli. They are the same age but Martinelli has a double-digit season and Madueke is yet to have that. I wont be counting Martinelli out just yet, the difference is he has shown time and time again HE CAN perform when it actually matters and give you g/a. Madueke is not bad but he is going to have to earn these comparisons to Saka and even Martinelli. So Im reserving my praises.

I think the midfielders need to stay in the centre instead of inverting into defense. There is such a profound disconnect in the structure of the midfield and the striking force. Defender are dipping high in the wings and the centre. I don't know but the style feels off this season. Strikers and attacking midfield don't score
