  1. I hope whoever makes the decision support the coach..provided they are happy with on field team performance..I bet Gio not happy with his mum getting involved

  2. A domestic violence issue that's so bad it took 33 years to report it after a mother wasn't happy with her son being dropped from the football team. Disgusting really, I support Berhalter 100%.

  3. If Seb is correct in his assessment, and IMO he is probably spot on, that this at least partially stems from how the system in the US is set up, then that is a failure from USSF.

As to Ale's point, I commented yesterday that I also think that Danielle Reyna heard the comments from Berhalter that were critical of her son and in her mind she was defending her son by making the comments she did to Stewart.

  4. That was 31 years ago. I wouuld agree that he should be thrown out if he hasn't reform. But, is that really the case? Or is it just an act of revenge to get him out?

  5. As an American, do not come at me saying that the USMNT has a chance of winning the 2026 World Cup when it's pay for play model won't change. We can't do football the American way and expect to be taken seriously on the global stage.

  6. First, the Berhalter's have reconciled and left the issue in the past. We should do the same. Second, Ernie Stewart completely mishandled the issue AND should be fired. Once raised by mom Reyna, Ernie should have held a meeting between the two couples and cleared the air with a professional mediator and investigator in the the room. Third, USSF should cut all ties with the Reyna parents and the Berhalters. Banned from all USSF events and USSF jobs. Fourth, Gio should be sit out all USMNT events until 2024. There should be consequences for this type behavior.

  7. This incident happened in 1991 when Berhalter was 18 and with his then girlfriend (now wife) when they were dating in college. How much petty could this be? If they have put the incident behind them and gotten married and are happy together, why should it matter?

  8. Drama aside, is Gregg a good enough coach to take us forward? 1 win, 2 losses, 1 tie in the 4 games. We struggled in every game. Couldn't score or make chances. Happy to get out of the group, but this team lacks quality in so many areas. US MNT has heart and hope, but needs a coach and machine behind them. Where is our Michael Jordan of US soccer, our Tiger Woods, our Serena Williams, our Tom Brady? It's hard for me to think we can't produce and coach better talent

  9. Hopefully McBride and the rest of the USSF are thoughtful enough to ask the Reyna’s who is fit enough to coach their little boy. We wouldn’t want a repeat of the Berhalter episode and apparently Gio’s parents call the shots with McBride and Company.

  10. Berhalter showing why he was never qualified for the job. Why would he tell Gio he would have little part to play in the WC? What reason did he have to tell that to his most talented player? That sparks the lack of effort in training incident which Gio apologized internally and it was all done. Then Berhalter puts Gio on blast after the WC? Now we’re finding out there’s a long Berhalter-Reyna relationship that likely factored into all of this.

Berhalter was a nepotism hire whose only qualifications was a 39% win rate at a MLS club, and his lack of experience is showing.

  11. That's what happens when everyone is all friends and family. Nepotism and cronyism has been at the heart of this federation and you all are acting surprised something like this happened?

  12. Ale claims that Reynas are just protecting their son!!!? LMAO
This is them throwing a tantrum and punching below the belt. F**k the Reynas and F**k Berhalter. We need to get back to what needs to be done in the next world cup w/o these drama queens

  13. Going after someone for a 30 year old incident when he was 18, with the woman he married and has stayed married to for 25 years is out of bounds IMO.

  14. Thank you America, for displaying once again how ridiculous, soft, liberal, chaotic, dumb, immature, and embarassing we are as a Western society.

Cancel culture NEEDS to stop. The text messages are the proof in the pudding. The Reynas sole purpose was to try and bury this man. An incident from 1991!? Are you kidding me!? Is there ever a thing called privacy anymore? And making mistakes that you wish never to speak of again?

This country is a complete contradiction. We forgive football, basketball, baseball, alllll other ATHLETES in this country for domestic violence, drunk driving, drug addiction/abuse and the list goes on. We also trade basketball players who got arrested for tryin to transport drugs in another country, for an arms dealer. But a 1991 ordeal, they deem unethical lol. WE ARE A JOKE.

I cant imagine having to talk about something I did 30+ years ago and someone destroying my career over it. Its absolutely ridiculous.

  15. He’s right about not knowing about the people involved, mostly not knowing Danielle, their relationships, and personalities. If they did, none of this is surprising.

  16. No!! Too much has happened now between Gio problem and now this!! This team needs to concentrate on soccer not all this drama!! Berhalter has had too many issues now. Move on!!

  17. reynas are the definition of petty. if they actually cared about the "incident" they wouldnt of held onto it for over 30 years to use as blackmail. that behavior is sick, twisted, and worse than what berhalter did by far. berhalter at least learned from the incident while the reynas went into a deep 30 year spell of insane pettiness.

  18. Im going to be honest, this is stupid. He only admitted his crime today?? He has been with his wife for over 25 years and had 4 kids? He made a mistake and apologized to the only person it mattered to 30 years ago. This is ridiculous. How long does a mans’ sin have to haunt him? How much time is enough time? Craziness

  19. Berhalter should not have said anything to the media. He was toast the minute he opened his mouth. This was about revenge. I want him out, but didn’t expect it to be like this. This will probably harm Gio’s career as well in USMNT. It’s a small community and a lot of money involved. Nobody wins here.
