With the deadline day approaching, Marc Guehi announced he will reject any new Crystal Palace contract offer and plan to leave as a free agent when his contract expires next summer. Despite being offered a £35 million bid by Palace, he expressed disappointment after the proposed move collapsed. Guehi previously played for Premier League champions and had plans to sign with overseas clubs in January or wait until next summer to complete a move to Anfield. Palace’s decision came after heated discussions between Oliver Glasner, their manager, and Steve Parish, who emphasized that players leaving on a free contract isn’t ideal. Guehi’s previous moves to Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham were rejected due to larger bids. Glasner, the club’s chairman, faces concerns over slow recruitment and has injuries affecting his squad, including Adam Wharton (adductor injury) and Yeremy Pino (right ankle). His team now lacks midfield attacking options, and he aims to build a bigger squad to compete in European football.
