Four days after winning their first competitive match at their world-class new home, Everton recorded a maiden cup victory under the lights at Hill Dickinson Stadium, seeing off Mansfield Town 2-0 to progress to the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The Blues produced some quality football but had to be patient to find a winner, the breakthrough arriving six minutes after the restart courtesy of Charly Alcaraz’s delightful 20-yard finish from Harrison Armstrong’s pass.

And the Academy graduate turned provider again with seconds to go, collecting James Garner’s incisive through ball to tee up substitite Beto from close range.

  1. Jack is so confident in the box, he is giving them shape and dominance, his game teaches you that wing play is not all about running but all about skills, entering and resting in dangerous zones as though you are in your bedroom.

  2. Why are our new season highlights so short once we’ve scored? Not showing the celebrations at all just switch straight back to the replay. Rubbish

  3. I like the Everton team. But oh man, how many missed opportunities in front of the keeper. This should’ve ended 4-0 or 5-0. With that lack of effectiveness, all they’re going to aspire is 0-0 or 1-1 on Premier.

  4. I feel like good times are coming. If we can trim the excess from the squad and sign a RB, DCM and striker then we are strong outfit that can really compete.
Any new signings need to go into the first 11. We can’t keep buying average if we want European football and at some point Champions League.

  5. And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Acts 16:31. Bro or sister make a decision and choose Jesus-Christ. You will taste a good difference

  6. Agree with everyone giving Armstrong the credit he deserved for last nights showing but I think Garner just edged him for motm in my opinion, kept us going at times in the second half. Anybody else find the Mansfield fans detracted from a very creditable performance by their team?

  7. Im a mansfield lad that supported everton all my life and a stags fan also. Great game , stags gave a good account of themselves, but COYB

  8. I ave not seen Barry have a chance to score in his time at efc . My honest opinion is Charly is better then BETO to grab goals but Toney would be fire . we do need a striker whose good at getting hat tricks …

  9. I could have done without the 50 minute wait to pick up my ticket.
