Thomas Tuchel named his latest squad with some major surprises. Rising midfielders Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest) and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) have earned call-ups after standout seasons, adding fresh competition in defensive midfield.

Meanwhile, big names Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jack Grealish, and Kyle Walker all miss out. Tuchel explained the decision was about trimming to a tighter, more competitive squad, insisting the door remains open for all three.

Tuchel also addressed criticism about youth selection, defending his choice to give Anderson and Wharton tournament experience at the U21 Euros before integrating them into the senior setup. With qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia ahead, Tuchel called for “more energy, more competition, and a better feeling” in camp as England build towards the World Cup.
