Enzo Fernández got an
assist and scored a penalty to seal victory in Saturday’s west
London derby. Look back with the best facts and Opta data in our

One of the Premier
League’s most one-sided fixtures went rather predictably on
Saturday as Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to resume
dominance over their west London rivals.
Ahead of this contest, Chelsea had lost just 8.3% of their
Premier League games against Fulham, the joint-lowest loss rate any
side has against another (20+ meetings) in the competition.
The Blues weren’t exactly spectacular, though a João Pedro
header and an Enzo
Fernández penalty got the job done after Fulham had
controversially seen an early opener disallowed.
The Cottagers offered a modest threat towards the end but not
enough to put the hosts’ lead under any real danger, and Chelsea
remain unbeaten at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League this
calendar year.

Earlier, however, Fulham looked the brighter of the two teams,
especially in the first half, potentially spurred on by the
confidence of having earned a rare Stamford Bridge win last
season.
They probably should have gone ahead, too.
The lively Josh
King darted clear and produced a commanding finish after Fulham
broke quickly, riding a few challenges in the process. However,
Rodrigo
Muniz was harshly deemed by the VAR to have committed a foul in
the build-up.
Had it stood, King (18y 239d) would have been Fulham’s youngest
goalscorer in the league since Ryan
Sessegnon (18y 155d) in October 2018.
A just reward it would’ve been as well. Fulham troubled Chelsea
in transition, with King’s running, on-ball bravery and positivity
helping him stand out more than anyone else before the break.
It wasn’t a first half of great quality, though. The scrappy
opening 45 included 16 fouls, the second most in the first period
of a Premier League game this term after Newcastle vs Liverpool
(19).
Chelsea did at least ensure it wasn’t a goalless half.
Deep into stoppage time, João Pedro met Fernández’s wicked
corner delivery and glanced beyond the helpless Bernd
Leno; Chelsea yet again striking at set plays.
That took them to four goals from corners already this season,
more than any other club in the Premier League.

Fulham’s hopes of turning things around were dealt a major blow
in 50th minute as Sessegnon was penalised for handball and
Fernández converted the resulting spot-kick after a lengthy –
arguably unnecessarily so – VAR check.
The Argentina international’s goal meant he’s now had a hand in
nine goals in 11 games across all competitions since (and
including) last season’s UEFA Conference League final.
Fulham grew into the contest again late on as Chelsea took their
foot off the pedal, with João Pedro required to clear a
Joachim Andersen header off the line.
Generally, however, the Blues had little difficulty ultimately
holding on to their first home win of the 2025-26 Premier League
season.
