Harry Maguire sits down with Rio Ferdinand, who admits he was a bit nervous about the interview before it started following comments he made about Maguire’s performances in a Manchester United shirt.
Harry Maguire addresses these and the level of scrutiny that he has faced whilst at Old Trafford. Maguire reveals what it was like after Bruno Fernandes was given the captaincy by Erik Ten Hag and why he thinks he performed differently for England compared to playing for Manchester United.
Rio is particularly invested in hearing how players in his position are asked to play so the pair dig into the demands on central defenders from manager Ruben Amorim and in today’s game in general. Maguire also describes how much he’s looking forward to this season after a ‘tough’ pre-season which he says has been great at bringing the players together and helping acclimatise to Ruben Amorim’s style of play.

I respect how he's picked his game up, but those seasons under Ole was his fault we didn't win the Prem. We were 10 points clear & Harry gave away that lead with infantile mistakes. I was his biggest critic, but I can't fault his comeback🔥💪Great stuff man👏👏👏
The moment we signed Ronaldo marked our downfall. The team and system fell apart. Players were always trying to find Ronaldo with a pass they shouldn’t have.
I honestly don’t think Ole would have been sacked if we never resigned Ronaldo. He was building a team like a well oiled machine and Ronnie was the spanner in the works.

Thanks Harry, l like Ole too. We have made so many stupid decisions in the last 12 years since Sir Alex. How we fired Van Gaal after winning the FA cup and bringing in good young players from the youth team as he did at AJax defies belief. Do many more to mention. No patience gets nowhere. Sir Alex came in 1986. We won the premier league in 92/93. That's 6 years folks. He wouldn't have lasted 2 seasons under this demented way of thinking. Let's give Ruben a chance to do what we brought him in to do.
It wasn't Cristiano. My understanding was that Ole sealed his fate with the sale of Dan James who put his energy and speed into critical pressing work and covered for many others. Eventually the leftovers may have coasted too much on the work that he did and couldn't contribute enough to replace him. GG
He can't say the old coach was better while he's still playing. I guess he will say that when he retires. If you think about it, he's saying that bringing Ronaldo in was a mistake.
