we were good against a ex premier league side with a 11 consisting of 6 new players. Many players are still not completely there yet, in terms of fitness to play 90 Minutes. A few mistakes were made here and there, but it can be ironed out with more game. I am only excited for this group of players this season
This is one of the best signings for us. Coady, Windass, Moore… they played outstanding today. We need a couple more players like them and we'll be fine..
You did alright Wrexham. Both teams were like tin-man in Wizard of Oz. Did they do any training in the summer? I know ours clearly didn't 😂 That Edwards shove on Moore was disgraceful. Thought conor, lewis, and max all played well, as were under constant pressure with our midfield dropping so deep along with our wingbacks in second half, so even though the midfield dropped deep apart from o brien who i thought was our best player , the back 3 stood firm for 89 mins.
Oh shit, Coady ended up at Wrexham? Didn't work at Everton for the level of play we were working towards (and failed at) but good players and amazing leader
Refreshing to hear a player speak with such honesty and humility, gutted to lose but on reflection I think we are good enough to compete in this league and challenge in the top half of the table UTST👌
A Leicester City fan here: conner does make me laugh , his commitment and knowledge of the games is good . Unfortunately for us he wasn't consistent enough , his pace is what lets him down at times . I still rate him as an good defender although him and Vestergard arent suitable for our back line with how we play now. He'll be am honest hard working centre back for you guys im sure !. Good luck for the season
As a Leicester fan, CC is more of a second-level hypeman than a footballer. He talks a big game but often fails to show the same on the pitch. On another matter, I am astounded that any club took Danny Ward. The brother spends all his time crawling around on the floor ala the 96th minute. Simply not a goalkeeper.
good interview. no big time Charlie here… things are shaping well- and this was the first outing for this line-up remember! ultimately, i think we were undone by Soton gambling on emptying their bench throwing multiple attackers on. this left gaps and, as CC said, we had moments- either of the 2 break-aways result in a goal and we win the game. not too shabby!
last time we came up to this level we brought Joey home but thar was it- and then the team split up with mickey going to Man U (where it worked out for him) and Bobby Shinton to Man City (where, sadly, it didn’t). it felt like getting to the Championship was it- the thing- the target- and that was the end ofit.
This time we are seriously strengthening! get in!!!
Good performance overall against a side that will finish in top 3 alongside possibly Ipswich and Brum. Southampton showed their class in 2nd half and had over 30,000 in the stadium. My gut feeling is we can finish anywhere from 5th – 12th. O Brien outstanding.

First of all Saints should have had two penalties
Second Wrexham can't just sit back and defend with a single goal lead at championship level going forward, it's not going to work.
Overall, it wasn't close. Saints had 27 shots, 10 on goal and had 76% possession. Wrexham has 10 shots, 2 on goal and had 24% possession.
