Liverpool 2-4 AC Milan | Wirtz Shines, But Reds’ Defense Exposed in Hong Kong

Liverpool were beaten 4-2 by AC Milan in their second pre-season friendly at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium. Despite lively displays from Florian Wirtz and teenage winger Rio Ngumoha, the Reds’ defensive frailties were on full display.

Rafael Leao gave Milan an early lead in the 10th minute, capitalizing on Liverpool’s vulnerable right side. Dominik Szoboszlai responded with a stunning equalizer in the 26th minute, assisted by Ngumoha’s impressive footwork. The first half ended level, but Milan took control after the break.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek restored Milan’s lead with a calm finish before Noah Okafor added a third just before the hour mark. Cody Gakpo headed home in stoppage time to reduce the deficit, but a mix-up between Mamardashvili and Tsimikas allowed Okafor to seal the win with a fourth goal.

With only two fit centre-backs available, Liverpool’s defensive issues were clear. While the result won’t alarm fans, it underscored the need for reinforcements before the new season.
