Chelsea 3-0 PSG | Club World Cup Final Tactical Breakdown
Enzo Maresca just masterminded one of the biggest shocks in recent football history — Chelsea dominated and dismantled PSG in the Club World Cup final with a tactical plan that left Luis Enrique’s side completely lost.

In this video, we break down exactly how Chelsea’s dynamic defensive system and clever use of space in possession completely neutralized PSG’s biggest threats. From Reece James and Caicedo’s man-marking roles to the impact of Robert Sanchez’s passing and the repeated exploitation of space down the right flank — this was a tactical masterclass. This was Chelsea’s best performance in years — and a statement win for Enzo Maresca.

👇 Drop your thoughts in the comments: Was this Chelsea’s most complete performance in the last decade? Can they carry this into next season? 📺

  1. Strange PSG didn't man mark Palmer. Every EPL team has leanred to do this and a lot of Chelsea games he won't have much impact. But if you let him loose then yes this happens.

  2. Hi Football Meta. I know you're focussing on the big teams from big leagues because that's where the bigger audience is, but my experience is that tactical novelties are usually thought of by more modest teams in smaller leagues, in order to give them a temporary weapon against the bigger teams on the block (or in Europe). So once it arrives at these bigger clubs, someone unknown has probably already applied it first. Would it be possible to move clear a bit from big leagues and pay more attention to the tactical novelties in smaller countries and lower leagues etc?

  3. Mendez particularly was bad on the day, and psg number didn’t help to provide cover for Mendez, overall it was a bad plan from erique. He could have changed plan as the game unfolded

  4. PSG didn’t even think about Chelsea until the final was confirmed 😅 that was a significant advantage for Chelsea as PSG were obviously the team expected to be in the final giving them plenty of time to make a comprehensive plan.

  5. I can’t believe Sanchez has got so much abuse he just had a bad season after joining. He’s shown that he’s class throughout his career.

  6. Each time the players don their Chelsea shirts they'll have two badges to fight for; for four years at least. Rightful custodians like a presidency term. People may scoff at the level of competition however the biggest positive achieved with this victory is instilling that winning factor. The team's tangible rewards for their hard work and their manager's teachings. Critics beforehand said that this was the litmus test for Chelsea's Champions League credentials so let's not undercut the victory now.

What Chelsea have always lacked in recent times was a structured philosophy. Patterns of play which the team can either fall back into or expand upon. The combination of youth and dynamism has been evident since last season though the addition of a structure into this team growing together is excitingly measured. English talisman, English core, English team repping on all fronts. The level of depth is frightening too. Maresca is on his way.

  7. Our coach is a genius he has made a lot of players play in different positions and do well . Look at james everyone was against him in mid palmer as winger neto falling back to RB he has created a versatile sqaud👏👏👏

  8. It was very clear Neto shut down Hakimi and Gusto did the same with Kvaratskhelia, that was key because it forced PSG to play in the center (which was already saturated by Chelsea).
