Nico Rosberg retired from Formula 1 at the end of the 2016 season after winning his first championship. Nico beat Lewis Hamilton after years of intense rivalry and controversy, but his entire Formula 1 career was hugely impressive. His junior years caught the attention of many teams and Nico was quickly known as a fast youngster with huge potential. Nico Rosberg’s early retirement left a lot of questions unanswered, but his achievements say a lot about how good he was. Enjoy!

Fun fact: Nico's haters are only Lewis fans
Legendary and Nico are not the two words I'd put in the same sentence 😬
Fantastic video. I always wanted to learn more about Nico and you did all the hard work to sum it all up. Thank you. I love Nico as a sky pundit, now I know why he seems so intelligent.
The most confusing part to me is, why do you say the I in Ibiza like it's an english word and then the z like it's a spanish word? Eyebitha
Are you talking about the 1x champion Nico Rosberg that beat 7x Champion Lewis Hamilton in equal machinery in 2016?
I think we all agree that Nico's key to lace wad likely his intelligence, and used it to great effect. As much as that's how he naturally is, I wonder how he may have raced had he let "feel" and instinct take over when racing. Sometimes I feel he played the % too much, rather than taking a risk and making it pay off. I still think he had more to give after he beat Hamilton, gutted he didn't stick around for another season or two.
I really admire him because he only ever wanted to be an F1 World Champion and never needed the money. I always thought when he was batting Hamilton that he would retire once he won the title.
Is this the guy who beat sir Lewis Hamilton the 7 time world driver champion in the equal machinery?
the quitter
I think Hamilton is the goat and that’s why I know Rosberg is good. Also it’s clear when he would speak in press conferences that he was smart…. Smarter than most if not all drivers in terms of how he would explain the technical parts of his driving or the car set up etc
if nico rosberg didnt retire and he and lewis didnt lose their friendship, mercedes mighta had the strongest driver pairing for a long time
It’s crazy to me that Nico scored the highest on that engineering aptitude test. Nigel Mansell was an aerospace engineer prior to F1, so if he had taken it when he joined Williams, that really puts Nico’s depth of knowledge into perspective
Nico was always a class act. A great driver, and an ever better person who's never been involved in drama neither had bad things to say about any driver.
He really deserved more than just one WC in F1.
I find it impressive all that extreme preparation he went through to win the title by just 5 points over the then partying/socialite Lewis. Ultimately it was a shame he didn't come back for 2017.
Gosh how long before the die hard Hamilton fans find this video
Great video. You could tell had special talent from his early runs at Williams.
God damn it last bit got me lmao
LH captain fan here no Mercedes helped Nico in getting the championship because the team didn't like Hamilton huh
LEGEND
I reckon that if he would’ve still been a Formula 1 driver for Mercedes last year it would’ve made the 2021 championship much more interesting.
And then he became a fragrance guru
Ah, my favourite Monaco-based Youtuber.
Bro defeated 14 wdc owner's in equal machinery
U r thumbnails are so good
Not only does this remind us how truly talented Nico was, but also we get an idea of how high Lewis's baseline talent is
3:50 I've always thought he looked a little like young Leonardo DiCaprio
Calling Rosberg "Legendary" is way too generous
If Carlos Sainz wants a championship, I think Nico is his blueprint. They’re both so analytical
2016 Rosberg me ght be the most motivated driver in F1 history period. He come with a mission and do everything to achieve it. Once its done. Its done.
He is not better than Hamilton or Schumacher, yet, he beat them both in equal machinery.
hardly legendary
Watched this whole video waiting patiently for the last line 😂 – great content!!! 2016 Nico was the peak of villain eras.
Nico isn't a better driver than lewis but he comoensated that w his brilliant technical brain. imo beating hamilton at his peak in a mercedes alone is worth at least 2, if not 3 worth of titles.
btw hamilton is the GOAT, not schumacher. bcs he dominated rich white men's sport 7x as a black person n came from humble beginnings. n he is still the only black person to ever drive an F1 car until today
7:10 "Modified gloves for better starts". Guess that paid off, given how good Nico was off the line that year, and how terrible Hamilton's race-starts were in 2016.
People say Lewis lost because of Malaysia, but for anyone who actually watched the season, they'd know it was Lewis' horrible starts where he lost tons of points.
People underrate him, but he was one of the best of the last 20 years. He just never had the car to show it, and when he had it, he had generational-talent lewis as his teammate
Norris may end up like him if he joins rb, ferrari, or if his team becomes competitive and another big talent joins him
The Man who's finished 2nd in the last four races is gonna come home and hit the jackpot in Monaco, Nico Rosberg wins the Monaco grand prix – Crofty, Monaco 2014.
just a little correcxtion for the future: It's not ADAC, It's A-D-A-C, every letter solo. Grear video though!
I've been a fan of Nico since he was in Formula BMW in 2002. When he was in F1, I admired how analytical he was. I was devastated when he announced his retirement, but hearing his reasoning for that decision and seeing what he has gone on to work on after retiring has just increased my admiration of him.
I hope we will see Nico and Seb working on something together in the near future, since their interests seem to align quite well.
It's amazing seeing how much it took for him to get to the top, it's just heartbreaking that it cost his friendship with Lewis.
Great piece on Nico but let’s not forget Lewis’ equal machinery failed in Malaysia that season handing him a crippling DNF instrumental in Nicos championship. Lewis was dominating that weekend and DNFd from 1st place.
Nico and I have the same birthday wow
Isn't that the Monaco based YouTuber that beat lewis Hamilton in thesame machinery
dont really like him… but i like one picture circulating on the net…. it is written on it (or something like this) –
"I like when people are comparing MSC to HAM.. who is the GOAT?… I beat both in the same machine 😛"
Nico was a Beast!!! He had so many epic duels with Hamilton and had relentless pace and consistency. Just go back and watch those seasons if you doubt it.
Is that Nico Rosberg, the 2016 world drivers champion who beat 7 time world drivers champion Lewis Hamilton in equal machinery?!
Had no idea Nico was so intelligent. And that's not a dig to the guy. Never thought he wasn't but not on that analytical level described. Pretty impressive.
my favorite driver
If he could put his 2016 prep routine into a book, I’d definitely buy it.
